We were fortunate to catch up with some brilliant artists, creatives and entrepreneurs from throughout the Houston area and they share the wisdom with us below.
Einstein said “a clever person solves a problem, a wise person avoids it.” I feel like that directly represents how I try to operate as a professional. A lot of the time I’m able to use my experience to add value to projects I’m involved with by knowing how to avoid pitfalls and setbacks, and help things cross the finish line smoothly and to a higher degree of quality as a result. Finding my community. I went solo the latter half of 2018, and it took some time to get my feet under me. By the time I was looking to expand my network— Covid hit. When it comes to the haunted attraction industry, I think a lot of outsiders do not realize how much goes into it. “Spooky season” to many only exists in the realm of October whereas there’s folks in our industry that exude that energy all year long and constantly prep for that beloved Halloween season. Art has always been part of me. As a child, I didn’t even realize it was something not everyone enjoyed. It was just how I processed the world. I filled margins of every scrap of paper, disappeared into photography books, and absorbed the works of other artists. Read More>>
I’ll be honest — before I had my daughter, I didn’t really have work/life balance. I was in that “always on” mode, where client needs, events, and deadlines dictated my hours. I love my work, so I didn’t always notice how much it spilled into every corner of my life. Read More>>
