Meet Sara Weymouth | Founder & Owner of Lemon Gift Shop

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Weymouth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
What makes Lemon so special is our carefully curated selection of over 100 high-quality brands—from organic and non-toxic lines, to small local makers, to some of your favorite well-known names. We’ve created a thoughtfully designed store that brings together the best of the best in home, baby, women’s, and seasonal items. Paired with our exceptional customer service and genuine local touch, shopping at Lemon is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
As a business owner, I’ve found success by staying true to who I am. I choose items for the store that I genuinely love and would want for myself—not just products I think will sell. I look for pieces that are not only cute but also safe for me and my family, and I want every gift we carry to feel meaningful.
I like to have fun with our marketing and never force it. Lemon’s growth has come from a very organic place, fueled largely by word of mouth—because when you truly offer something special, people will support it.
That said, I have to give credit to Lemon’s incredible team. Year after year, they are the true MVPs, and I could never do what I do without them.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my journey with a BS in Business Marketing and spent 10 years working in corporate before launching Lemon. When my kids were babies, I found myself wishing there was a local shop where I could find cute, organic baby items. At the time, options were limited—not just in stores, but even online. That’s when the idea for Lemon was born: a modern gift shop filled with organic, non-toxic items for both everyday living and thoughtful gifting.
Lemon began as a pop-up shop in California. Just a few months later, we opened our first storefront. Within a year, we expanded to online shopping and added a second store. We weathered the challenges of COVID shutdowns and even a personal cross-country move to the Nashville area. For several years, I ran Lemon in California while living in Tennessee, but eventually made the decision to close the California locations and fully relaunch here in Franklin.
Starting over across the country wasn’t easy, but it was absolutely worth it. In 2023, we opened Lemon in Franklin, TN, and we couldn’t be happier with our new home. Nestled in the historic Factory building, Lemon now serves both locals and visitors daily, and continues to grow as a place for thoughtful, high-quality finds.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Of course do one night on Broadway, love doing a day at South Hall’s spa, Arrington Vineyards for the music, food and relax outside, Downtown Franklin and The Factory, see Lemon of course! Love 12th South & The Gulch too. Go to some cute local farms and farmers markets, Leipers Fork. Do some great hiking and walks, it is just so pretty here.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For me, this is an easy one—I want to give a huge shoutout to all the Lemon girls, past and present. Without their hard work and dedication, there simply wouldn’t be Lemon. They are the face of the business every single day, giving 100%—from providing exceptional customer service, to keeping the store looking beautiful, to creating so much of what you see on our social media.
Some businesses can be run alone, but Lemon is not one of them. I am forever grateful to each and every one of the Lemon girls for making Lemon such a truly special place.
