Meet Sarah Moseley | Owner and Founder of SongStory Music

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Moseley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I actually never intended to become an entrepreneur and start my own business, but I saw a need in my community and I wanted to help! I am a singer/songwriter in Nashville and I was looking for ways to make extra income as a creative and I started asking friends and family if they wanted any custom songs written for special occasions. I then started to research ‘custom songs’ and noticed that this was an existing concept but there was not a custom song company located in Nashville. I then began to dream of a custom song company that could provide customers with personalized songs for special occasions by Nashville songwriters. This would also help our creative community have another layer of financial income through custom songs! Our customers get a song for a lifetime with all their favorite memories and they also get a personal Nashville music experience. It was so motivating to start a company that helps others and has a mission attached to it. We love getting to create custom and meaningful songs for our customers while supporting our Nashville music community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SongStory Music is Nashville’s first and only custom song company! What sets us apart from other competitors is many different things. We’re operated and owned right here in Music City and we currently only accept songwriters that live here in Nashville because we have the best songwriters in the world and we want to support our creative community! I am really proud of the quality of custom songs that our songwriters create. We consider ourselves a premium custom song company and we provide customers with quality and professional production tracks and lyrics for the custom songs! I am also very proud of the roster of songwriters that we have acquired over the years. Everyone is so talented in their own way and are just the best people! I feel very lucky to have some of the best on our roster creating these songs. Building a business from the ground up is very challenging. You are constantly growing and adapting and learning what you need to improve upon. I’ve had to learn to be flexible and push through on the challenging days but also celebrate the wins! You have to be incredibly patient and resilient to build your business and continue to believe in the product and dream that you have created. It has taken a lot of sweat and tears to get to where we are today and I believe that this is just the beginning for SongStory Music

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many incredible places to go here in Nashville. If I had a friend in town visiting, I would take them to an Italian dinner at Moto in the Gulch. And then we would have to checkout one of the cool rooftop bars such as the Grand Hyatt or the Thompson Hotel in downtown Nashville! I also really enjoy heading out to Arrington Vineyards and relaxing with some live music and wine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Graduating from Belmont University here in Nashville has opened so many doors for me and my career. It has given me so many resources! Its been 6 years since I graduated and I am still connected to people at Belmont who want to help and encourage my journey! I feel incredibly privileged to have attended such an amazing school that inspired and motivated me that I could achieve any dream that I pursue.

I also owe so much to my husband Aaron who is a successful entrepreneur here in Nashville. He has always believed and championed my dreams. He has always encouraged me to keep going when the journey has been long and continues to inspire me to pursue my dreams.
