Meet Raw Proof | Writer. Freestyler. HipHop Recording & Performing Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raw Proof and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raw, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe there are big rewards in taking big risks. I always consider calculated risk though. If a person wants to move to another city, another state, or another country, it might be wise to visit first. Visit numerous times. Think about how it makes you feel when you are in that other environment. Then weigh the pros and cons of making that change. Can the cons be turned into pros? When I moved to Nashville, TN from a smaller town 45 minutes North, my rent tripled in cost. Within the first year here, I invested in myself, acquired new skills, and doubled my monthly income. Calculated risk.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Even though they say this Life is short, it’s been a long time coming, and I’m still working to get to where I want to be. My brand really focuses on insightful messages, whether it be something to make you think, or advice to help you heal. I’ve gotten to where I am today just by being consistent and not being afraid to try new things. I’m pretty amped up about this new project, but it’s the following one that I’m super amped up to see how it plays out. I’m just excited about the journey itself. The things that haven’t been manifested yet. Nothing in this Life is easy. If you think about it like that, every step is an accomplishment.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in Nashville, I have to recommend what I know. I’m on the Southside, the most diverse side. I’m going to take you to Princes Hot Chicken for lunch. It’ll cost you 10$ for 3 jumbo sized wings. I recommend you don’t order them any hotter than ‘mild’, if you want to enjoy your food. I’ll tell you all about the history of the place during our meal. On a Sunday afternoon, we’ll go check out Centennial Park. There is a replica of The Greek Parthenon, and if you’re lucky, the B-Boys and B-girls will be out doing their thing. Food trucks galore will be in full effect. If you’re an attractive woman, we might stroll over to Lovers Lane for a nice elevated view of the city. Visiting the National Museum of African-American Music is a must. We’ll try not to spend the entire day there, though it’s easy to. Summertime calls for being out in nature. Floating around Percy Priest Lake or Old Hickory Lake is nice. I don’t have a boat, but you can catch a perspective from a kayak that a boat will never allow. I’ll stop there, because I don’t want to entice any more people to move here. We are overcrowded and the price of everything is being driven up.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Right now I’m reading The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra. Of course, success is defined by the successor. I have to give a shout-out to DJ Eddie B. for consistently recording and mixing my sound over the past 7 years. My seamstress, Amber (All Hemmed Up) for embarking on this journey of customized merch. The H.O.M.E organization which I truly believe is going to help foster in a new improved sound for my recordings. Big up to everybody who collaborated with me on this new project, Inner Power, due out in the third quarter of 2024. That includes 4Ize, E.T, Ah-Deli, MC McNutt, Malcolm Dewayne and SK9. Major shout-out to the creator of this Universe (and others).
