We had the good fortune of connecting with Maleny Mikels and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maleny, why did you pursue a creative career?
I think it has been and it still is because I found out music is my true calling. Composing, performing and playing guitar is what makes me the happiest. Being a professional musician isn’t the easiest career path to follow, but if you’re passionate about music, it’s totally worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a professional musician, guitarist and composer. I work as a session guitarist, both live and in the studio. I also compose songs for artists through Warner Chappell.

As a guitarist I endorse Ernie Ball Music Man guitars and strings, Godin guitars, Seymour Duncan, Jim Dunlop and Gruv Gear.

I’m currently working on my solo instrumental project so I’ll be releasing new music next year.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love just walking around and discovering new places. The kind of day that you spend chilling and walking into any cool new place that you have never been before. I’d also take her to a few live local rock shows as well as discovering new bands together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A book that truly changed my mindset is “The 10X Rule” by Grant Cardone. This book is all about taking responsibility for your own results and success and giving it your best at whatever you do.
