Hi Lexus, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Upon creating H.E.A.T Collection by Lex it took so much time behind the senses. I wanted my business to stand out from others, attract the appropriate target audience, all while serving a purpose to the customers. I originally only wanted to sale mink strips, however I started to pursue more over time. I strive to solve the problem most females deal with on a day to day bases, finding someone who does multiple services in one location. I then added nails and took my first course for mink extensions. By the way, my name is Lexus, but everyone calls me Lex. owner of H.E.A.T Collection by Lex AKA THE Pretty Girl Trap. Here with THE Pretty Girl Trap we strive to service our customers to the best of our abilities . You can book nail, lash, and wax services & get serviced all in one location. Definition of a one stop shop!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Heat Collection by Lex aka The Pretty Girl Trap is set apart from others for obvious reasons, we offer more than one service all at one location. We offer lash extensions, full nail sets, pedicures, and waxing will be added back soon. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority when serving our customers. We want to insure everyone leaves different from the way they came.

Within the past two years as a business owner I am mostly proud of everything I have accomplished within so little time. We’ve had four billboards, two of which were in a different state, appeared as a guest speaker for future cosmetology students, hosted a business brunch, owned a building, etc. Now in 2024, we are working even harder to achieve and accomplish bigger and better!

Four years in business, the past two years have been the most difficult. Upon making big business decisions and turning down even bigger business proposals, I plan to come back even better and so much more stronger! It took me taking a break from business to have my son to see how much of an impact I had on my customers and clients. My professionalism honestly comes naturally due to having proper customer service. I also took a course to better my professionalism skills back in 2020, it takes time and effort. Business will never be easy however, you have to want it in such a way it makes you look crazy. If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.

I’ve learned so many lessons over the four years of being in business. The biggest one being patience. Nothing is going to come overnight nor come easy. You really have to put in the work, do the homework, invest, and do the one thing that scares you the most. It took me losing my job and shortly after breaking my finger last year to really step out on faith. I took business a lot more seriously because that was the only income I had at the moment. Yes, I have an amazing support system however, not everyone sees the vision.

I worked everyday all day and even on the days I had no clients I still showed up for myself. That’s when I started to get into content creating and studying on how to better my picture quality. Not even a month went by and business took off. Clientele went through the roof and content was doing really well.

H.E.A.T Collection by Lex has been through so much just to come back even better & stronger as a brand & business! I can say as the owner, I am very proud of my outcome. I cant wait to see what 2024 holds for us!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would plan out a few activities. I would take them both to a Grizzlies game and then dinner afterwards. On the second day we would catch brunch downtown, go to a museum, and then lunch. The third day, we’d spend time in the house and probably cook dinner, makes drinks, and play a few games.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without a village how can someone grow? I want to thank my mom Antoinette Garmon for always being a listen hear, my go to when things are good as well as falling apart, my best and worst critic, and my biggest supporter! She’s always a phone call away and she’s never too far whenever I need her. From the long conversations to just simply being a helping hand I appreciate everything.
