We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurel Sabadosh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laurel, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks can be extremely scary, especially when your efforts are going towards an uncertain path. The biggest risk I have taken is pursuing a career as a singer-songwriter due to the uncertainties, especially in a city like Nashville, where there are thousands of aspiring musicians. While success in this business especially is not guaranteed, a greater risk for me is not pursing this dream and forever wondering the possibilities of what could have happened if I had just tried. Life is a series of choices, and I would rather take the risk of trying than face the potential regret of never knowing what could have been.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey into songwriting began when I realized the radio wasn’t capturing the experiences and emotions I was going through. I was determined to create relatable music and have released songs like “Can’t Reign On Me”, inspired by overcoming a toxic relationship, and “Play” with over 125k streams on Spotify, depicting the power of personal choices. Through my lyrics, I strive to show strength, independence, and connection with my listeners on a whole new level.

Performing regularly in Nashville, I not only showcase the music I have released, but I also share unreleased music to understand what my audience prefers. This helps me decide which songs to take to the studio, ensuring I resonate with those who are listening and following my music. In the upcoming year, I plan to expand beyond Nashville, taking supported songs to the studio for a wider audience.

In 2023, I released two music videos for my songs “One You’ll Never Know” and “Lost Without You”. These videos received a ton of great feedback and were featured on CMT.com. I am so grateful for the incredible support I have received for my music from the dedicated listeners and attendees at my show, as well as the support from within the industry. This journey has been nothing short of amazing and I am so thankful for everyone who has contributed to it.

Looking forward networking, and seizing every opportunity remains my focus. I am actively engaging with venues, attending writers’ nights, and reaching out to local songwriters, knowing that success requires continuous effort. Recognizing that no one believes in me more than I do, I constantly show up for myself, building confidence and giving myself permission to keep pushing boundaries. The recognition I have received for my hard work only motivates me to continue fighting for the dream I am turning into a reality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nashville never stops being a fun time. Whenever my friends come into town there is a “must-do” itinerary. First, they would of course have to come to one of my shows! I have recently been doing a lot of rounds with Nashville Tour Stop, so I would probably be playing at one of their venues. If they didn’t experience enough local music, I would do a brunch at the Listening Room Café to let them hear even more incredible songwriters around town. There are of course some great museums around town including the Country Music Hall of Fame where they can learn more about the history of the incredible musicians that they’ve listen to through their radio.

After they’ve had their ears filled with music, it’s time to fill their bellies! Since I am a gluten free girl who loves pasta, I highly recommend Sixty Vines on Broadway to have some wine and eat regular or GF pizza/pasta! Another great place in the same location is Blanco, where they’ll find the best queso and Spicy Margarita in town. After the meal, we will go checkout the bars on Broadway, including places like Casa Rosa and Whiskey Row.

If they wanted a taste of something more local, we would grab some coffee from “The Well” ordering a nice hot latte or go drink a cold vodka soda at Red Door in midtown! If a big sports is on, we will head over to Martins BBQ downtown where we can cheer on our favorite team (Go Titans!) while playing games like darts during commercial! Nashville is a great place to explore and the option for having a good time is limitless. But when planning a trip don’t forget to head to Laurelsabdosh.com to check out my schedule and make sure you don’t miss a heck of a show!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people I would I owe credit to for my music journey including my amazing parents who continue to support my dream, my friends who always come cheer me on at my shows and all the incredible songwriters who have given me a chance to be creative with them. Amidst these acknowledgements, one person stands out to me in the industry, Trevor Willmott. He was originally my guitar teacher who evolved into a songwriting mentor, providing encouragement during moments of self-doubt. He listened to the first song I ever wrote and helped me believe in my craft. Trevor not only believed in my craft from the first song I ever showed him, but continues to guide me weekly offering advice, connections and continuously pushing me outside my comfort zone. His influence, from giving me confidence to play my first show in Nashville, an open mic night, to introducing me to my first ever recording experience, has been implemental. I am beyond grateful for his consistent support and mentorship as I continue to navigate this musical journey
