Meet Deina Dixon | Herbalist, CPT-NASM, Group Fitness Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Deina Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind my business was because of my mother. She passed away due to cancer, and I wanted to be able to help support people dealing with critical illnesses. So, I started learning about herbal medicine, because I wanted to take a holistic approach to helping people heal naturally. I found a mentor, Therese Prentice, that educated me on herbs from a spiritual standpoint. She showed me how to make blends, tinctures, salves, oils to help people heal. Once I learned how
to formulate blends, I was ready to start running my business. In 2021, 3D Nutrition was birth.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am at the place I am today business wise, because I didn’t quit. It’s so easy to stop when things get hard and throw in the towel but when you keep positive people around you that speaks life you, it helps push you to success. If it wasn’t for the people I mentioned earlier, 3D Nutrition would have been stopped. Learning how to market, which is still a challenge. Getting out of my shell to be more visible on social media. Having the fear of people judging you. Finding income to invest in making products especially when sales were low and seeing no income coming in. I questioned my purpose so many times. If what I was doing was right. Then, I met Francesca, owner of Live Ya Life juices. She tried one of my products and loved it. She reached out to me and told me that she was opening a store and she wanted me and other small business owner to be a part of it. She believed in one of my products more than me. It’s now a Top Seller in her store.
I wanted to expand my brand, so I am now a certified personal trainer. I have lost over 50lbs. I was pre-diabetic and overweight. I had to make changes in my life, so I can help others make changes in theirs. I know life happens and it’s so easy to lose focus on yourself, and 3D Nutrition is all about helping you heal from within and getting active. I now offer online coaching for those who are not able to make it to the gym and need help. Once you change your Mindset you can change your life. That’s the key to everything.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This question was kind of hard, because I am a home body. I really enjoy hanging out with friends and family in a house setting. However, I do enjoy Lafayette’s music room. The music, food, and atmosphere are really enjoyable. You cannot go wrong with a good laugh, so Chuckles is a good spot to step out and enjoy for a couple of hours. Fleming’s Steak house if you want a good steak, which is my husband’s favorite. Going to Shelby Farm for a nice walk or run in the park. These are some of things I enjoy when I go out.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my mother. Even though she is not with me physically she is with me in spirit. She taught me how to be a go getter. She loved me through my failures and successes and was always there for me. 3D Nutrition was created because of her. I want to thank my mentor, Therese Prentice for educating me about herbs and how to run a business. My friends Allison and Quishundria for constantly encouraging to me to keep pushing when I wanted to quit, and always answering my questions when I was unsure about something. Their love and support mean the world to me. My friend Shenika who has been right there helping me when I started doing pop ups. She has been at most of them, either working or coming to support me. My sister Courtney, she has always had my back. She told me if something was a good idea or not. She’s always thinking of ways to help my business grow. She’s constantly speaking words of encouragement over me. I wouldn’t know what to do without her love and support. Last but not least, my husband Demarcus. He is the biggest supporter that I have. He has been there to see my highs and lows. He pushes me to the max. He can always see the bigger picture when I don’t. He is always front and center at all of my events. When I’m thinking of product names, he helps me come up with most of them along with Allison and Q…lol. But I am truly thankful for his unwavering love and support. He is my rock!!
