We had the good fortune of connecting with Debonair Le’Flair and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Debonair, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing outsiders don’t realize is how much of this industry is strategy, discipline, and mental toughness — not just talent. If you’re someone who doesn’t like being perceived or critiqued, music and content creation might not be for you. Everyone has an opinion, no matter how pure your intent is. You have to be thick-skinned, locked in on your purpose, and rooted in your faith. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. And beyond all that, most people have no idea how many hours go into production — the planning, shooting, editing, revising, and doing it all over again. It’s a grind, but if you love it, it’s worth it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is rooted in storytelling — whether I’m rapping, producing, creating content, or designing visuals, I’m telling stories that reflect my reality and the culture around me. What sets me apart is my ability to do it all — I don’t just make music, I curate the visual world around it. I wear a lot of hats: artist, producer, photographer, graphic designer, content creator, media personality. But to me, it’s all connected. I create from every angle.

I’m most proud of staying authentic. I didn’t follow a blueprint — I made my own lane, one step at a time. What excites me most is that I’m just getting started, but I already see the impact of my work. People are connecting to it. They feel seen, heard, and entertained — that means everything.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I’ve faced self-doubt, setbacks, being overlooked — all of it. But I leaned into my faith, kept working on my craft, and stayed consistent. One big lesson I’ve learned is that you don’t need to be perfect — just real and committed. And when the doors don’t open, sometimes you have to build your own.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know about me and my brand, it’s that I represent possibility. I’m from Detroit, from a family that moved for a better life, and now I’m creating work that speaks globally. My story isn’t just mine — it’s for anyone chasing something bigger than their circumstances. This is deeper than art. It’s legacy work.

Right now, my latest project Walking in the Light! is out and streaming on all platforms. It features some of my standout tracks like “DISASTER,” “I GOT US,” and “FAMILIA SÓLIDA” featuring EuroTheKidd. I’ve also released visuals for “MIND YOUR MANNERS,” “BE ALL YOU CAN BE,” and “GOYARD PASSPORT HOLDER.”

This year has been a wild ride — I’ve been locked in and consistent. I dropped a series of singles like “Bells Palsy Freestyle,” “Is It A Crime?,” “Lil Bro,” and “Yo Man’s Tripping (Remix)” with Hysteric. You can also check out visuals for “TRUST GOD” and my latest single “CHANGE UP,” all available on my YouTube.

I’ve also been spending a lot of my summer in Atlanta — working on new music with FREE, performing on the same lineup as M.O.B Mook at Tiiva Tuesdaze, and connecting with the scene. I’ve done a handful of shows this year, including headlining Hysteric & Friends, a special show we brought to Detroit.

My music is a reflection of real life, growth, and perseverance. I’m just getting started — there’s a lot more coming. Look out for “That Mode” and “That Mode” (Remix) ft. FREE.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d give them the real experience. First stop, we’re eating good…some of my favorite spots in Detroit for grub are The Goblin Sushi, SavannahBlue and Mootz.

We’d definitely hit the DIA (Detroit Institute of Arts), then check out the Charles H. Wright Museum and Motown Museum to tap into the culture. Belle Isle for some fresh air and views, and we’re definitely skating at GreatSkate or Northland.

At night we’ll probably slide to an Ultra Sound show where you’’ll catch me hosting and the homies iiiAM, Kuh Leel or Brando could be on the ones and twos curating the vibes. Whether it’s The Brakeman or Lowkey Detroit it’s a night you cant forget.

The city’s energy is unmatched — from the people to the art to the hustle. It’s soulful, gritty, and full of hidden gems. That’s the Detroit I’d want them to feel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my family, friends, supporters, and my community. Big love to my grandparents who took that leap of faith moving from the South to Detroit for a better life — that foundation means everything. I’m also grateful to my parents for raising me with culture and faith, and to all the mentors and people who gave me opportunities along the way. I wouldn’t be here without them. Big shoutout to Sonny Digital for supporting my music on his livestreams. I also connected with Key Wane this year for a collab, and some of my TikTok content caught the attention of fashion model Eva Apio and undisputed boxer Alycia Baumgardner.
