We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Lapeze and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting Reform Physical Therapy was that I wanted to provide a service that was different from the traditional healthcare model and conventional physical therapy. Unfortunately, in the healthcare system, it is rare to have quality, one-on-one time with a healthcare provider. It is also uncommon to receive a comprehensive conservative care approach that takes into account your lifestyle habits, nutrition, movement/exercise, job, stress level, where they look at a whole person and multiple factors to help resolve the symptoms someone is having. It was important to me to be able to provide a level of care where people felt listened to and cared for, not rushed and given a “one size fits all” approach to the symptoms they are having.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have wanted to be a physical therapist since I was 15 years old. What I admired most about this career early on was the ability to work with all sorts of different people, be an advocate for health, exercise and wellness, and help individuals get back to doing the things they love. Unfortunately, when I started working in a traditional physical therapy setting, I found the career to be very challenging. Trying to manage 3-4 patients at the same time while making sure my documentation was thorough and complete and that each patient felt listened to and that their goals were being met each session was very difficult and not feasible within this type of setting. This led to my realization that I could start something of my own and control the way I was able to work with people. In my practice, I prioritize the patients goals. Each session is sixty minutes of uninterrupted time. No patients are ever double booked, and each session is customized to your needs and goals. Without the limitations of insurance, I am able to work on multiple body regions, have unlimited treatment sessions, and really prioritize what is most important for the person in front of me and makes sure they feel their needs are being met each session.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite spots in Murfreesboro is the Alley! My husband and I love to do date nights there. We also love to head down to Nashville and see some live music, or enjoy some wine and have a picnic at Arrington Vineyards!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A few people that I would like to shoutout is my husband and family for their never-ending support and belief in my dream of starting my own practice. Also, the PT Biz community and coaches for their mentorship and guidance while I was opening my practice.
