We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrystal Norwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chrystal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting own business was doubt at first. Fear and doubt are two things that hender someone from truly believing in themselves. Once I gained the courage and confidence needed, I took the leap of faith and prayed while taking the first step to starting my business. One thing I will tell others is just do it or you will forever keep wondering “what if.” The best time to do something is when you don’t want to or have fear to do it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got to where I am today professionally by investing in myself. It’s not always easy. If it was, everyone would be able to do it. Being focused on my path is what sets me apart. I am genuinely happy for those that advance to the next level in their craft. Being happy for others makes me happy because I know my testimony will inspire others around me.

My story of surviving Sickle Cell Anemia and not letting it stop me makes me stronger. Being able to bounce back from being sick does take time but one thing I learned from it was to stop holding myself back. From a good friend of mine giving me the tough advice that made want to cry was what I needed to hear. I am truly thankful for Octavia Smith and a few others as well. Octavia gave me words randomly that made me push towards achieving more. Meeting her was God’s grace that we continued to be friends and support each other.

My brand Crystal With an H LLC ™ started as just a nickname when I under I’m Next Management agency and it stuck since then and now trademarked.

My brand is my story. Crystal With an H is a life journey of a Sickle Cell Warrior inspiring and touching the souls of those come within her path. I am here to genuinely show others that good people do exist without an hidden agenda. The high vibrational aura is pure love to spread everywhere.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The places I would visit are the following:

Frist Art Museum

Belle Meade

Nashville Ballet

Honky Tonk Highway

Nashville Underground

Explore downtown in general

Food will be cooked because there’s nothing like having a home-cooked meal.

I love to explore so being able to go places and meet new people that can recommend places from a local experience is always the best.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many I want to thank for the love and support. I want to give thanks to the most high because without him giving me guidance and the strength to keep moving forward I wouldn’t be where I am today. His love and mercy is why I’m grateful for my supporters and the love they give me. Thank you to my family, friends, church families, teachers, colleagues, coworkers, students, mentors, model coaches, clients, followers, etc. Every individual that I have met over the years have played a part whether a lesson or blessing and I am grateful for it all.
