We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassandra Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassandra, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
As a business owner, I have learned patience in a new way. When I started my company in February 2018 it was difficult to manage a company and work full-time. However, there were lessons I needed to learn during that season. In January 2020 I walked from the job and became a full-time entrepreneur despite the many challenges (global pandemic, event cancellations, etc.) I was fortunate to stay in business because of patience and trusting God’s timing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Holistic Living Consulting has many differentiating features from other health & wellness companies. The biggest difference is passion. For over a decade I was sick and didn’t get the answers needed to restore my body. When God blessed me to enter remission from systemic lupus it has become my mission to empower women, especially women of color to heal as they experience more health disparities than any other segment of the U.S. population.

The year 2023 has presented many peaks. One of the things that excites me most is having my first commercial air on Nubian TV. Growing Holistic Living Consulting to this level hasn’t been easy but definitely worth the effort. There were days when I had no money and wasn’t sure how I would keep the business open and still support myself. Every time I was ready to give up a door of opportunity would arise.

After being in business for a couple of years I started to understand that consistency is key. Do the work even when you think no one is watching but they definitely are watching you. For some individuals, corporations, etc. it takes time to make a decision that you are the best fit for them and that’s perfectly fine.

Another key lesson is the importance of educating yourself. As an entrepreneur, your business will never grow past you. In other words, your business success is directly linked to your skills and qualifications. Whether it’s through courses, podcasts, books, etc. an entrepreneur should continually grow in skills that will propel them forward in business.

Holistic Living Consulting envisions a world where Black women experience equality and health disparities no longer exist. God healed my body from systemic lupus and other autoimmune conditions so I can spread the gift of healing to others. This is more than just a business it’s my calling.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would find ourselves at some stores like Bath & Body Works, Southern Charm Boutique, and Barnes & Noble. I love eating good food so places like Tropical Smoothie, Panera Bread, and Cheddars. We would visit Arkansas State University since it’s the first college I earned a degree from and experienced many life transitions.

Honestly, my best friend and I have lived apart from one another for about 13 years so if came to town for a week besides visiting favorite places I would just want to spend time watching a movie, grabbing our favorite snacks, and just hanging out like when we lived closer to each other.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been individuals and organizations that have supported me in becoming the best version of myself as a business owner. One person who holds a special place in my heart is my Aunt Annette. She provides a safe place for me to discuss anything personal or professional. Her encouragement and support are priceless!!
