We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started in the wedding industry I was a newly wed myself, working part time. Photography was just a hobby for me and I had all the free time in the world. Fast forward 3 years when I first became a mom, my free time was now nonexistent. Photography became my full time career choice in 2021 and I struggled with a work life balance and having a 1 year old. 2 years later I welcomed my sweet daughter. Now I find myself with a 3 year old, 1 year old and a thriving business. How? Work life balance. It’s so important to set aside specific hours for editing. I have “business hours” that I respond to emails and messages only. As a business owner it’s so hard to turn “work” off, we are always thinking about work. What needs to be done, what’s messages we need to respond too, etc. it’s so hard to turn it off but if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy spending time with my family. I truly believe Id be burnout without a healthy work life balance. I think it’s extremely important in having a successful business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Nashville and Middle Tennessee Wedding photographer. I specialize in luxury weddings and engagements. I believe in capturing each wedding day authentically and I showcase that in every aspect of my work. Clean, timeless, and modern are the three angles I strive for in all of my editing. I want more than anything for my clients to look back at their wedding galleries decades from now, and be able to go back to the exact moment each photo was taken. To be able to feel the raw emotion captured.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not going to lie, I don’t get out much.. I truly am a “homebody” and find so much peace and joy being home with my children. I do appreciate some great food though. My husband and I splurge on our food. House of Cards is a unique Nashville experience. Bourbon Steak hands down my favorite restaurant in Nashville. Oh and let’s not forget the famous Nashville Hot Chicken, Hattie B’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am in my photography career without God. I I wholeheartedly believe I am exactly where I’m supposed to be, doing exactly what He created me to do. He sends so many amazing clients my way and I am truly overwhelmed with how blessed I am. My clients that have used me for years are a huge factor in my success as well. Their referrals and constant support has helped my grow tremendously over the years.
