I chose not to be like everyone else. Often times, people try to imitate what other people are doing and recycle ideas. I stepped out unapologetically as myself; for better or worse. What people see is legitimately me. The person you see on stage, on social media, and in public is the same person I am in private with my family and friends. When I got out of college, I was thrown into balancing being a songwriter, a band leader (my own band, The Coal Men), and a guitarist for hire. Those roles kept me busy, and hungry, always pushing towards new songs, gigs, and bands/artists to accompany. The only community I was involved in inevitably revolved around music.
