Meet Zelena Hull | Singer, Songwriter, and Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zelena Hull and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zelena, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk is necessary for anything good in life. I broke the world record for the most consecutively released singles. As of writing this I’ve released 82 songs. For this record I had to put a lot of hard work to release a new song every Friday. I knew I could do this, however it was really stressful because technical issues, general fret, and keeping up deadlines. This was something that could wrong at any moment, but because I persisted I was able to pull through.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have Autism and that diagnosis has always pushed me to go further. I want to show that neurodivergent people can express and push themselves to great highs. Because I’ve always wanted to push myself, I’ve been releasing a new song every Friday. I started out in rock but I’ve continually branched out to genres including jazz, pop, classical, electronic, country, comedy, experimental, acoustic, and many more. Life is a journey and I want to reflect that in my music. We always expand and grow. It’s good to be thankful for what we’ve got and always continue to look forward to the future.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Nashville palace is a great spot within Nashville. I’ve performed there once and it has a great atmosphere for artists and guests alike.
Wanna B’s is perfect for a night out with a group of friends. Besides the great food, it’s really fun to go and sing karaoke there.
This might a little bonus but the CMA festival is awesome. They have a really cool expo that shows new music technology and other really cool developments within the music industry.
There’s a ton of small stores and record shops. Some music labels have mini little shops like Big Machine.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother Valerie Hull is an artist. She has always pushed for me to reach for the stars and fall where I fall. Valerie is an encouraging, kind, and supportive role-model.
