Meet Xela Andrews | Interior Designer, Owner Spaces in Bloom Designs

We had the good fortune of connecting with Xela Andrews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Xela, what makes you happy? Why?
Being a mom of three and a wife for 26 years while pursuing a career in interior design has been an incredible journey, one that brings me immense happiness every day.
My family is the cornerstone of my happiness. The laughter, love, and moments are what gets me out of bed everyday. Witnessing my children grow, learn, and start to leave the nest and embark on their own journey has been bitter sweet. Their achievements, big or small, fill my heart with so much pride.
My role as a mother and wife has taught me invaluable lessons about patience, understanding, and unconditional love. Seeing my family thrive, supporting each other through highs and lows, and creating cherished memories together are the moments I live for.
On the professional front, being an interior designer allows me to unleash my creativity and passion. Transforming spaces into beautiful, functional, and harmonious environments brings me immense fulfillment. The ability to blend aesthetics with functionality, creating spaces that evoke emotions and cater to the needs of my clients, is incredibly rewarding.
Designing is not just about arranging furniture or choosing color schemes; it’s about crafting experiences. The joy I feel when a client expresses happiness and satisfaction with the transformation of their space is indescribable. It’s a privilege to turn their visions into reality and witness the positive impact it has on their lives.
What should our readers know about your business?
Spaces in Bloom Designs is a full service residential design firm. I am Xela Andrews, Owner and Lead Designer. My mission is to create beautiful and functional spaces that reflect our clients’ unique personalities and lifestyles.
I started this design business in Keller, Texas in 2017. I initially took on small jobs, anything from choosing paints to renovating small bathrooms. But as my confidence grew and people started to see my work I began to take on larger projects. In 2019 I took on a 12,000 sqft renovation project. Every single space in the home was redone. It tested me in ways I had never been tested. In the end the home was absolutely breathtaking. Since then we have done countless projects all over the DFW area, Nashville, TN, Utah and Colorado.
In 2021 my family and I moved to Brentwood, TN. I have spent the last 3+ years growing my business in Tennessee but also continuing to take on large home remodels and new builds in Texas. I have traveled all over to help my clients transform their homes. I have surrounded myself with an excellent team. They help make every project better than the last. At Spaces in Bloom we pride ourselves on getting to know our clients. We love to know how they live, what gets them excited, what stresses them out. What makes a house feel like a home to them? There is no one size fits all when it comes to design. Every person and family is different and our goal is always to make their house feel like their HOME.
As the economy has changed over the last few years, we have seen a shift in what our clients need and want. Home is always at the top of the list. Unfortunately the cost of homes, renovations, etc has continued to increase. I have been really focused the past year on how I can bring design to more people. Home is such a special place and I know that there are so many people that would like to work with an Interior Designer, but for a number of reasons are not able to do so. I want to make design not only available and affordable to the masses but also something that is fun and exciting.
This month we launched a new service. It is in essence “virtual design” but we have put a twist on it. This service is called The Bloom Box. Not only are we virtually designing spaces for our clients all over the United States, we are sending them a beautiful Bloom Box. What is a bloom box? As a full service designer, my clients favorite day has always been “Design Day.” This is the day I show up with everything that is going to transform the space. Mood boards, layouts, renderings, samples of things like wallpaper, rugs, fabrics, tiles, wood and paint. Our clients love this day because this is when a thought becomes a vision. For the first time they can see what is in our heads as designers. I wanted to continue this excitement and feeling. This is where the Bloom Box comes in. Once we virtually design your space, we will put everything in this beautiful Bloom Box and it will arrive at your door. Giving our virtual clients the joy of Design Day just like our full service clients. This is so exciting! We can not wait to help more people make their space bloom!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Funny you should ask. Since moving to Nashville in 2021, we have had many friends and family come to visit us. We love to show them around this wonderful city we now call home.
We love to start out with breakfast at The Pancake Pantry and shopping in Hillsboro Village. Then a late lunch at Sadies Nashville and shopping at 12th South. Finish the evening with a fun night watching the Predators.
Day 2 Breakfast at Ruby Sunshine in Franklin. Followed by a day of shopping down main street and surrounding areas. Everyone LOVES to visit Franklin. We stop by the factory for a few Five Daughters Donuts. For the evening fun we head to the Listening Room for the perfect evening of listening to good country music.
Day 3 Take a drive to Leipers Fork. The country roads are so beautiful and the town is so quaint. Make a stop at the Fox and Locke for Live Music. Next stop The Loveless Cafe. Best biscuits in Nashville.
Day 4 Take the Trolley Tour of Nashville. Stop by the Country Music Hall of Fame. Grab dinner at The Twelve Thirty Club followed by a night at the Ryman.
Day 5 Tour the Grand Ol Opry and then see a show. Grab dinner at Edley’s BBQ at 12th south. If you have time and want to take a walk down broadway. Always fun to see and listen to some fun music.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my husband, Jeff and our 3 kids (Jordan 23, Elena 21 and Zach 17) for constantly supporting me in all that I do. It is not always easy to be a Mom, a Wife and an Entrepreneur. I have had to miss certain events or maybe didn’t get to help with a project the way I would have liked. But they have always been so supportive and understanding. They have helped push me out of my comfort zone and because of their love and support I have been able to do things that I never thought I was capable of doing. They are my everything.
