Meet Wynton Existing | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wynton Existing and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wynton, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The decision to start my music career over almost completely from scratch & move from Pennsylvania to Tennessee to establish myself in an entirely new scene was definitely the most difficult. Up until 2021 i had lived my entire life in Manheim, PA and was in a relatively established act I formed in 2012. Leaving everything I’ve ever known after almost 10 years of blood sweat and tears for my old project was really difficult for me, but the freedom I have experienced in my art since then has been extremely liberating. It just goes to show, you can make a life for yourself just about anywhere. If you don’t feel in your right place or that you belong, get outside of your comfort zone and take a chance!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist, I think it’s important to keep the sights focused forward. As proud as I am looking back at previously released music and accomplishments, what drives me is wanting to do even better and making sure what I’m doing in the current moment is an improvement, at least in my eyes. I just want to keep growing and evolving. The second you stop growing, you start dying.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
if I had a week to show someone around I would probably start with some thrifting, music shops, make our way to a bar with something cheap at The Underdog or Cobra, a couple places at Broadway (just to get it out of their system) Bowies and Printers Alley come to mind, maybe later in the night check out Rosemaries, 5 Spot or Mickeys, give them a good east Nashville hang. Another day I would take them to South Nashville, check out all the ethnic foods and shops, Patel Brothers is amazing, the biggest store for everything indian (which I am half), then you have the really colorful Spanish mall, Plaza Mariachi that even has a stage with spanish music that people go dance to.
I would also show them Clarksville, just 45 minutes away, take them on a hike to an abandoned mine, catch a show at Revel House, check out the downtown at Blackhorse and end it late night at the Pea Patch and jam.
Want a gaming night? We have barcades, pinball rooms and even a newly opened Mini Golf course set in a fancy indoor bar called Put Shack. There’s so much!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a big shoutout to one of my best friends, musical comrades, and most recent roommate, Brother Dusty! He’s been an incredible networker and mentor for me since my move to Tennessee. He’s kind of like a cat; cats seem to sense when you’re sad or feeling down and out. There were times where it’s like he sensed that from afar, reached out to me and gave me words of encouragement, without any context whatsoever, it was kind of wild! He’s in another Nashville band called The Reveal.
