We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Elliott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
At the time, I was touring the country, playing music with some of the biggest names in country music. I was waking up in a different city every day, playing in front of thousands of people, and doing what most musicians dream of. But as exciting as that was, something just didn’t feel complete.

I’ve always wanted to have a family and be present for the big and small moments. That’s tough to do when you’re living out of a suitcase. The road wears on you after a while, no matter how fun the gigs are.

That’s really where the idea for The Music City Sound came from. I called up some of my closest friends, people I had worked with over the years, and we started something of our own. We pulled together an incredible group of performers, many of whom had also spent time on the road or in the studio, and built something we could all be proud of.

It’s been ten years now, and every year the band keeps growing. We’ve got more than 30 performers in the rotation, and the community we’ve built around this has become something really special.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Music City Sound is an entertainment company that provides live music for weddings, corporate events, private parties, and just about any celebration you can think of. What makes us different is the combination of top-tier talent with a focus on making the experience smooth and stress-free for our clients. We handle the details so they can focus on enjoying their day.

There’s nothing like being part of a couple’s wedding or watching a corporate crowd light up when the band kicks in. We get to be a part of those moments that people remember for the rest of their lives, and that never gets old.

Over the years, we’ve grown into a team that plays 80 to 100 events a year. We’ve been able to build something that not only brings joy to audiences but also creates a steady and supportive environment for our musicians. For a lot of them, this work has become a dependable source of income and a creative outlet, which is something I’m incredibly proud of.

It hasn’t always been easy. The event world is fast-paced and unpredictable. The days can be long, and there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make things look effortless on stage. But the rewards always outweigh the challenges. Every event teaches us something new, and we’re constantly evolving to get better at what we do.

At the heart of it, we just love what we do. We want to bring the party, lift people up, and help create memories that stick with them forever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a best friend came to town, we would have to kick things off with live music. Nashville is the spot for it. No trip here is complete without stopping by some of the bars and honky tonks downtown. My personal favorite is Robert’s Western World. The music is always top notch, and they’ve got one of the best bar specials in town. It’s classic Nashville, laid back, authentic, and full of great energy.

From there, we would explore a few different neighborhoods. East Nashville has a cool, local vibe with tons of unique restaurants and dive bars that always have something interesting going on. Midtown is another fun area if you’re looking for a lively crowd and solid late-night spots.

For food, I’d mix it up. Maybe brunch at Pinewood Social, hot chicken at Hattie B’s, and dinner at some of the local favorites like Lockeland Table or Butcher & Bee. There’s no shortage of great spots to eat here. You can pretty much follow your nose and land somewhere good.

We would also check out some of the smaller venues around town where local artists and songwriters play. Those nights tend to be the most memorable. Hearing someone perform a song you know they’ll be famous for someday is something special.

By the end of the week, we would have hit a little bit of everything. Great food, great music, and a few unexpected gems along the way. That’s the beauty of Nashville. There’s something for everyone, and it never gets old.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents have always been in my corner. From the very beginning, they believed in me—even during times when I struggled to believe in myself. Their encouragement gave me the confidence to keep going, and I’ll always be grateful for that.

These days, I’m especially thankful for my wife and kids. They step up in so many ways and keep me grounded when things get hectic. Their support means everything. No matter what’s going on, they find ways to lift me up and keep me moving forward.

I’ve also been lucky to have a network of friends and peers in the industry who’ve helped guide and support me over the years. It really does take a team to build something meaningful, and I’ve been surrounded by some incredible people who’ve played a big part in my journey.
