We had the good fortune of connecting with Wilbur Hines and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wilbur, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Focused and driven, prepared to do anything to free up my time from working 80+ hours a week in sales, I began brainstorming side hustles. Taking notice of a booming fitness industry in 2021, I looked into personal training and became a certified trainer with ISSA.
As a former NAIA Division III college basketball athlete, still engaged in physical fitness training, this was a great transition for me. Learning the intricate details of conditioning the body, and making more money was a dream come true.
My thought process was simple. I wanted to spend my life living well and not just surviving. I enjoyed the extra income and I was also inspired by the thought of financial freedom, and a desire to position my family for generational wealth. Starting my own business was the best thing I could’ve ever done.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
All through my years, basketball and physical fitness were as common as brushing my teeth. Hours of conditioning built a solid foundation that I stand on to this day.
Coming to grips with my mortality, my thirties brought injuries and fatigue like I’d never experienced. An athletic background soon meant nothing as my range of motion and strength began to diminish significantly.
Poor food choices and lack of knowledge was my achilles heel. Reflecting on my imperfections and how I can reverse engineer a path to success, personal training fell into my lap.
Looking to build a fitness community where literacy and self improvement was prominent, ˈPräməs was born. A warm reception from my friends and family, garnered the brand a great deal of attention from fitness communities all over the country. Now we train with accuracy and efficiency, having conditioned some clients to lose as much as 70-80lbs in months.
In conclusion, ˈPräməs has become a household name in Tennessee for self awareness, self improvement, and execution. It is our hope that physical fitness and literacy be made available to as many people as possible. For our country and our people, ˈPräməs will be here to serve.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Crunch Fitness is my gym you can’t come to Clarksville without getting a good workout there.
Post-workout make sure you get to Optimize U for a cold plunge and some compression therapy.
Next, if you’re a foodie, stop by Shogun on Wilma, for the best hibachi in Tennessee.
And last but not least, be sure to hit City Forum for some family fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without hesitation, my father, Wilbur Hines Sr. is a huge inspiration to me. For my outlook on life and how I care for those around me, I have my father to thank for showing me the way. He is a Pastor at Happy Home Baptist Church in Allendale, SC, and he deserves the highest recognition for sure.
At my big age, Pop still finds a way to help me be a better father to my 2 daughters and a better man to my community. Love you Dad!
