We had the good fortune of connecting with Violin Girl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Violin Girl, how do you think about risk?
Without risk, no reward. Taking risks has played a huge role in both my personal life and career. After high school I veered from the traditional path and instead of going to college to pursue a career, I spent a year as a full time street musician busking on the Las Vegas Strip. That was a risky move, but it paid off as that was where I made many connections to transition being a street performer into playing with DJs at nightclubs and festivals. Everything good that has come to me in my career stemmed from that single decision.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a professional electric violinist with a focus on performing in nightlife, and I absolutely love it. This road was absolutely not easy. I was first inspired to do what I do after getting into festivals like EDC at age 18. I saw a female vocalist singing live with Dash Berlin, and thought, well I’m not a DJ but I have played violin my whole life. I started testing out playing violin with dance music tracks as a busker on the Strip, and that led to many performance opportunities around my hometown of Vegas and beyond. Not withstanding challenges like having to keep pushing and proving my performance skills whenever I’ve encountered the many people that didn’t quite “get” how the violin/dance music thing worked. I believe that as soon as you see me play once, then you’ll “get” it, and that strategy has worked! Over the years I’ve held residencies in Vegas, Chicago, and Cancun, have been signed to my agency Treblemonsters, and have performed at many of the top clubs and festivals worldwide. None of this would have come without believing in what I do, finding my agency of supportive people who also believe in what I do, and simply always being an original and being the most authentic version of myself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I could go on for hours about how much I love Vegas and how lucky I feel to have been born and raised there. Not many people can claim one of the most infamous cities in the world as their hometown and backyard. If I was showing people around the “real” Vegas, we’d have to start by going hiking out at Red Rock or Valley of Fire, and catching a gorgeous desert sunrise or sunset. Being surrounded by our stunning desert landscape and mountains 24/7 is my favorite part of being from Vegas. I’m a desert girl at heart. Then we would have to go grab some amazing off-Strip, local food! Vegas has a truly outstanding local food scene. My personal faves include D’Agostino’s for amazing Italian in an atmosphere that feels like your own home, Pita’s for the most authentic Israeli food you’ll find outside the Middle East, Marsigliano’s or Yukon for the perfect pizza, Naan and Curry for Indian food, and Shokku for 24 hr ramen- does it get any better than that? Next we would go to a Vegas Golden Knights game, home of the current Stanley Cup Champs! VGK is one thing that truly brought this city and my family together, and I’m a fan for life. You need to go to an in person game to find out why we have the best arena atmosphere in all of sports. I’d finish up the Vegas tour with a drink at Atomic Liquors, the oldest and best dive bar in town with a history that people used to watch the atomic testing from its roof. No TVs or gimmicks, just good beers and good conversation to top off a day in the city that has my heart.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my parents! They put me into violin lessons at age 2 and never let me quit growing up, even when playing classical style violin made me miserable. If they hadn’t gotten me into violin at such a young age, I don’t think I would have developed such a good ear to make me the performer I am now. They never really wanted or expected me to become a professional musician, but have done so much to support my nightlife performance career, including driving me to festival gigs when I wasn’t old enough to rent a car and sleeping in said car while I played 6 am sunrise sets. Huge shoutout to both of you for helping me become the person and artist I am today.
