We had the good fortune of connecting with Vallie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vallie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
From an early age I was creating, whether it was a silly little tune I was humming or a new poem I had made up. So, to end up pursuing that creativity and to become a recording artist; it really wasn’t so much a single decision as it was just a natural progression for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art has been a part of me from the very beginning. Since I was young, music has been there for and with me as a way to express thoughts and emotions that for my introverted self would otherwise be impossible. That being said, growing up and having very specific interests, wasn’t something everyone understood. There were many times, especially in my school years, when I felt isolated or like I didn’t quite fit in. I think that’s something that unfortunately, a lot of creatives and introspective individuals have experienced and continue to experience. So, with my music, my goal is to create a space for everyone, where they feel welcomed and included. That goes for my lyrics all the way to live venue’s. My most recent and upcoming two-part project “Disconnected” goes deeper into those feelings. I began writing for this project starting 5 years ago and have been in and out of studios working on the production and composition for over a year and a half now. I am excited to finally announce that the first part will be releasing late spring/early summer!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me, the most fun thing about Tennessee is the variety. There’s amazing food, stunning hiking spots, great tea shops (I LOVE tea), etc. If I had someone visiting from out of town, I’d want to do it all!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Travis Wyrick, owner of Lakeside Studios. He’s the first person in the industry I worked with that actually took my vision seriously. I was just a kid, but he allowed me to express myself and the direction I wanted to take my music. Most everyone else questioned me or had other ideas for me. I’m incredibly thankful for him as that experience those 10+ years ago shaped my ability to grow and feel confident as an artist.
