We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Keye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The life of a child is shaped by several important milestones and decisions that a parent makes as the child grows into an adult. In the process of teaching their children essential life skills as well as providing them with love and guidance, every parent strives to make a positive impact on their son or daughter. However, I believe that the most significant thing I and my husband have ever done as parents in terms of the impact our child has had on his life is introducing him to Jesus.

I believe that it is not only providing him with a spiritual connection, but it is also helping him to develop a strong sense of morality, as well as strengthening our family bond, instilling resilience and character, and nurturing a lasting relationship with his faith. By investing in his spiritual well-being on a regular basis, we are laying the groundwork for him to live a fulfilling, purposeful life, and to grow spiritually as a result.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m glad you asked! I’m a Talent Acquisition professional during my “9-5.” Outside of work, I’m a professional beauty enhancer. My preferred title is Professional Beauty Enhancer, since I believe everyone is beautiful in some way, and makeup just enhances that. As an artist, my primary goal is to empower my clients. There’s beauty in every form, and makeup should enhance rather than hide one’s natural features. To highlight the individuality of my clients, I create customized looks based on their unique characteristics.

If you are unfamiliar with my journey as a makeup artist, it began with a fascination for YouTube makeup tutorials. Additionally, I noticed there weren’t many makeup artists who looked like me or specialized in makeup for women of color in my area, which further motivated me to get into the industry. As 2019 began, I mostly did makeup for friends and family. Over the following months, I gradually built up my makeup kit, started putting myself out there more, and ultimately took a Nashville makeup course from a celebrity makeup artist. While we were in the middle of a pandemic at the time, my career really took off in late 2020 and early 2021. However, I am still learning, and I realize it was God who brought me here.
As a freelance artist, I’ve worked on photoshoots, weddings, and fashion shows for clients. My goal is to make each client’s vision a reality by delivering their desired outcomes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That’s a fun question! So I grew up in Smyrna, Tennessee, which is about 25 minutes outside of Nashville, and most of my friends live here. However, I love supporting small businesses and I’m a foodie. I’d definitely take them to HiFi cookies because they have the best cookies. I’d also take them to Ainsworth for their mac & cheese burger. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I’d also stop at Mack’s hot chicken, because what’s Nashville without some amazing hot chicken?

For sightseeing activities, I would take them to the Parthenon as it is such an impressive replica, as well as the Nashville farmers market as it is such a unique culinary experience. I’m usually a homebody, but for a night out on the town, I’d probably take them to the Gulch since it’s a little more laid back than downtown.

To my loving husband, Chris, words cannot fully express my gratitude and appreciation for your unwavering support. It is you who are my rock, my confidant, and my pillar of strength, always standing by my side. Through our journey together, your support has been a constant source of comfort and solace. You always believed in me, even when I doubted myself, whether it was during challenging times or celebrating my victories. You have given me the confidence to face any obstacle that comes our way because of your unwavering belief in my abilities. You are everything to me, and I am forever grateful. You are an incredible person, and I appreciate you so much. I love you.
