Meet Tyler Gilbert | Musician & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Gilbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, what matters most to you?
What has always been the most important factor that I hope to never forget is the reason why I started making music. The love of creating music is number one to me, creatively I dont make decisions based on what I think will sell. I didnt get into this with the intention of being rich, I was never one to chase money. For me the creation is everything, I get to make music any way I want to, it’s what keeps me happily smiling.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Yhe music industry is never an easy road. The creative world is tough financially but also mentally. Being that the product you create is so personal, it can be hard to release it to the public and hear responses that you werent prepared for. Given the financially instability of being basically a private contractor the fear of success and failure is always looming above. Perseverance and resiliency is a must or you will be quitting early on, so I’ve been fortunate enough to have the drive to never quit, which has been the biggest reason of my success.
My catalogue of music is definitely that of diversity. Over my career it has incorporated multiple genres including folk, metal, pop rock, being a fan of many styles of music I have always strived to incorporate everything that has had an impact on me.
My future for my music holds many albums that fall within the rock and hard rock genres. I will also sprinkle in a few acoustic albums along the way. Also on the horizon is frequent Las Vegas shows and West coast tours.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we were in Vegas I would take them to the Neon Museum and then stop at Back to the 80s Cafe for some nostalgia. We would definitely have to finish the night on Freemont street, starting at my favorite place Sam Boyd’s California Casino.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I have to give a shout out to my parents. They always supported my ideas and dreams and never squashed them. They’ve helped encourage my perseverance and resilience.
The second shout out would certainly have to be the artist that inspired me to want to make music. They would be Zakk Wylde and Michael Jackson. More than any other artist these two have had the biggest impact on my music.
