We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Follon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
“Work/life” balance is all a perspective. I think so many people are trying to figure this out right now. But more realistically, it is simply that they are trying to find the thing they love to do that fulfills the work/income box without even knowing that’s what they are looking for. I shape filmmaking and content creating around my other pieces of life. I love to work out, spend time with my wife, and keep up with all aspects of life! I have created that freedom over time and feel that it is not about balance, but just doing what you love and growing in that constantly.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a cinematographer and photographer that creates all forms of high quality content! There are so many pieces and challenges I had to face throughout the past 15 years to get to where I am now. And I think that my answer to this changes pretty often. What sets me apart from the huge amount of other video/photo creators is the level of connection that I love to have with anyone I create for. Nearly every client becomes a friend and coming together with a musician or company or couple for their wedding, its all a close relational journey of making something we are all proud of! There is no failure in that. It’s a big process creating a music video for example. Meeting, brainstorming, readjusting, problem solving, improvising, and doing whatever it takes to make it beautiful and impactful! It’s definitely a collaboration that always leads to huge connection with a person!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man, this is a big one since I live in Nashville! Everything here is worth seeing and you can hop from place to place pretty fast! Broadway, which is full of live music, food and bars is the most popular and famous area! Even though that is definitely a must see, I actually love a little Mexican restaurant in East Nashville called “El Fuego”! Their patio is the absolute best and they have $4 margaritas that just can’t be beat! I absolutely love taking everyone there and having a great time!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Creativity, at least for me, is directly tied to my emotional state. If I’m depressed or down, it’s tough to create. And if I’m feeling strong and stable, creativity has space to flow! My wife, Haley, has been by my side, teaching me for years since we met how to enjoy present life and love where I’m at! I would love to give her a shoutout for sure! Her patience and loyalty to me and my journey has led me to huge growth in myself and my business!
