MEet Tisha Tinsman | Balloon Business Owner & Mom

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tisha Tinsman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Having my oldest Daughter sparked a newfound passion for party decorating. After her first Birthday, I dreamed of starting a business that would allow me to leave my full-time job and work for myself. Before starting my business, I was working for Cirque du Soleil and another Cirque “like” show called Le Reve. It required me to work late nights, holidays, and birthdays. Ultimately, missing out on these precious moments is what gave me the push to start the business!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a balloon artist specializing in organic balloon decor. We do all things balloons from small social events to large-scale corporate events. Pride in the little things & details is what sets Little Party Girl apart from others. The details are something we take seriously from the second we receive an inquiry and throughout the entire process to after the event. Whether our customer service & punctuality or our creative out-of-the-box thinking and unique touches, the details are what makes up unique!
I started my business before covid hit and was 100% self-taught learning from trial and error the first year. In March 2020, we had to quarantine and started investing in several professional webinars. From there I started attending classes and conventions not only learning new balloon techniques but making relationships and connections with other people! I’ve learned I am where I am today not only because of my skills but because of the amazing and encouraging people I have met along the way.
My story is something I am proud of and always love to see the looks on people’s faces when I tell them I was born to circus-performing parents at the Big Apple Circus. I have been in the arts my entire life!
I danced and was in theater my entire childhood until going to college where I attended UNC School of Arts in BFA program for Wigs and Makeup Design for Film & Theater.
I moved to Las Vegas at 22 straight out of college to work for Phantom of Opera and then shortly after I started working for Cirque du Soleil as a makeup artist. I continued to work for several Cirque shows over the following 7 years including being a part of 3 creations (building a new show)! My story has so much to do with my business. I can pull from my art school education and apply it to designing balloons! From Color theory, how the lighting will affect colors, to creative thinking is applied to my current business with Balloons!
It’s crazy to me how much of my education in Makeup has transferred and helped me with balloon design.
There is so much more to balloons than most think!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The amazing community of women-owned businesses and fellow balloon artists around me who continue to support, refer, and teach me along the way has been what has allowed me to do what I am doing today. We are stronger together and the community I have around me is like no other!
