Meet Tiffany Tipton | Hairstylist and Salon Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Tipton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, what do you attribute your success to?
I feel the most important factor behind my success has been my authenticity of truly loving, welcoming, and including all people. Sadly, in my industry of beauty, many people feel uncomfortable going to certain salons and service providers. It was my mission to change that in my studio. I cherish those that don’t always fit the average mold. I myself don’t and I do my best to live outward truth to myself. I feel that attracts people because I’m a safe space. I offer individualized accommodations and genuinely care about their comfort and needs. In turn, I feel like people appreciate that and spread the word.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a hairstylist, I categorize myself as an artist. I’ve always been an artist. The only thing that ever changes has been my medium of choice. I found a career that allows me to paint (hair), sculpt (hair), and share expression (looks the client wants to express). I love that my art gets to walk around town and how it gives my clients confidence and freedom of expression. I don’t just give cookie cutter cuts and styles. I do my best to provide individual looks for everyone!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being in the heart of Maryville, TN, an easy must do is the Smoky Mountains. If you’ve never been, it’s magical. Living in the foothills, we see the mountains daily and it’s easy to take them for granted. I love to see the awe in someone’s eyes that has never been here. Dinner at Bella or Foothills Milling in downtown Maryville would be appreciated by all! While you’re in downtown, check out our adorable boutiques and shops as well as bars and breweries. All in walking distance!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh this is such a hard question because I have such an amazing group of friends and family in my corner. To name only one, would be a shame. They know who they are and deserve the shoutout most. I’m a single mom of a 7 yr old with special needs and owning my own business keeps my schedule PACKED. Without the love and help of my little tribe, it wouldn’t be possible to survive. I truly am a lucky woman to have found my people, and the support we provide each other is invaluable. Thank you, my loves!
