We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Anton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Powered By Her is a brand that celebrates a strong female community. We strive to be real and raw with our initiatives and work to create a safe environment. Often female driven brands use colors that are typically a bit more feminine and fonts and feel softer. When Powered By Her launched, we felt like it was important to stand out a bit. Maybe offer something that the female community hadn’t seen before. We chose a strong logo that resembles Rosie the Riveter, colors that were bold and bright as well as fonts that were not flowy and script.

We also decided to focus on telling other women’s stories. Instead of having experts who know all the things and can tell you how to do it, we wanted real life women who have gone through their own struggles and successes. We wanted stories that we relatable and inspiring. Women feel connected to the stories they hear. They can see themselves in the shoes of those who they listen to. And they feel seen themselves.

What should our readers know about your business?
Powered By Her is a program that falls under The Biz Foundry umbrella. The Biz Foundry, a regional entrepreneur center, is part of the economic ecosystem in middle Tennessee. Tasked with helping entrepreneurs, I found that we did not have a lot of female clients coming in for help. In 2018, we decided to launch Powered By Her as monthly lunches as well as a podcast to help to motivate, inspire and create community for our female founder community. Growing our community has been a steady journey. Saying it was easy might be misleading, but it also has been something that many women were searching for.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this region of Tennessee. The Upper Cumberland has so much to offer when it comes to outdoor activities, food, music, and just overall atmosphere. On top of my list would be a trip to Wildwood Resort & Marina in Granville. They offer kayak rentals, a top tier restaurant, live music on the weekends as well as a variety of options to stay the night. I would also make a stop at Red Silo Brewing Company where I could hopefully catch some live music from Caleb & Leann after a great dinner at The Blue Pig. I also love to take people on a hike to Burgess Falls where we can see an amazing waterfall but not too strenuous of a hike.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The women of the Powered By Her community is what makes us shine. The women who have agreed to tell their stories on the podcast, the women who show up to the lunches, the women who continue to listen and share the podcasts. This is what keeps us going and has brought success to what we are doing! Kelly Sullivan and Cigi England have gone above and beyond to support our efforts as well as The Biz Foundry, regional entrepreneur center. Luke Ramey and The Pod Kitchen produce our podcast and help to gain momentum and reach.
