Meet The Prophet Najee | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with The Prophet Najee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The Prophet, how do you think about risk?
Everyday is a risk honestly speaking. There are just better outcomes when you put intention about the risk you are deciding to take. Being an individual who decides to pursue a path that has more downs than ups and still chooses to walk that direction is a risk taker. That speaks to most of us. The greatest reward is seeing yourself evolve in ways that you didn’t think possible and continuing to get better. Risks have made me who I am currently.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a true expression of myself. I make art for the individual that believes in a dream so badly, but still works a job to maintain that dream. I make art for people who act extroverted but are naturally introverted. I make art for my Nigerian community because some of us have shared experiences. I tell my story in a smooth tone over the most hard hitting instrumentals. Growing this community is what I look forward to the most. Connecting with people from everywhere. I definitely want to become my best artistic version and share that with the world. I’ve learned that there is a reward for choosing you and your self interest. It’s long, but the time doesn’t matter. The path is the most exciting.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anybody that comes to Memphis defiantly has to get them some wings! Honey gold to be exact. There’s so many spots in the city. Ching’s, All-Star, Dixie Queen, Crump’s, just to name a few. They would definitely have to come to a Grizzly game as well. Memphis goes up in the FedForum! There’s also so many live events that happen with the best DJ’s in the city. The vibes they create are immaculate.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
