Meet Teja Moore | Skin Correction Specialist & Spa Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Teja Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teja, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work-life balance has been one of the most dynamic and challenging aspects of my life. Being a mother of three and an entrepreneur who has owned my own business for four years, I’ve learned that balance is an ongoing journey. Each stage of motherhood brings new changes, and balancing those with the demands of running a full-time business has required constant adjustments. Despite my experience, I still find myself working toward that happy medium, where both my family and my business can thrive.
I think about balance often and deeply value it because it’s essential not only for my own peace of mind but also for my family’s happiness and my business’s success. My priority is my family, and I strive to be an active and present mom, while also ensuring that my business receives the care it needs to grow. Alongside this, I remind myself of the importance of setting aside time just for myself—time that isn’t for family or work, but simply for recharging.
This healthy balance is crucial because, at the end of the day, a thriving family, a growing business, and my own well-being all depend on it. It’s an ongoing commitment, but one I feel is essential to true success.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Moore Than Skin Esthetics is a skincare business deeply focused on corrective skincare, including acne, hyperpigmentation, and preventive care. What sets my business apart, especially in my area, is that I specialize in the aspects of skincare that were missing in my community, particularly for clients of color. There hadn’t been an establishment, or a person of color, dedicated to tackling issues like acne and hyperpigmentation in a corrective and personalized way. While many estheticians here offer general skincare, I saw a need for someone who could target and address these specific concerns—so I set out to fill that gap. My goal has always been to help clients see both the beauty of their skin and the importance of caring for it at every stage, no matter the condition.
Right now, I’m most proud of having recently moved into my first commercial space. I’m also incredibly excited to work toward becoming the first Black-owned med spa in my area, which would be another significant milestone for my business and the community. Getting here has required a lot of hard work, especially as a mom and wife balancing a family with my business. But I’ve made it to this point by not giving up, taking leaps of faith, pushing through challenges, and continually marketing and promoting myself.
This journey has been far from easy, and new challenges continue to arise, but I draw strength from my support system and the passion I have for what I do. Every challenge is a reminder of why I started this business, and I’m proud of how far Moore Than Skin Esthetics has come. I look forward to continuing to serve my clients and to keep growing in ways that uplift both my community and my industry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Columbus, Georgia, I’d keep it relaxed but fun, showcasing some of the highlights that make the area special. Columbus might not be the biggest city, but it has some gems worth experiencing. We’d start with a stroll through downtown Columbus, where there are plenty of great spots to grab coffee or a sweet treat and just enjoy the atmosphere. We’d check out the Riverwalk for some beautiful scenery along the river, and if there’s an event or live music happening downtown, we’d join in to soak up the local vibe.
For something a little adventurous, we could try zip lining over the Chattahoochee River or even whitewater rafting, which is a unique experience here in Columbus. It’s a great way to get a bit of a thrill and appreciate the natural beauty of the area.
In the evenings, we’d head back downtown to try some of the local restaurants and maybe grab drinks—keeping it laid-back and enjoying good food and conversation. But I’d also keep it simple, maybe even planning a cozy evening at home with some food and a good movie or game night. Columbus has its quiet charm, and sometimes the best times are spent just enjoying each other’s company.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a heartfelt shout-out to all of my clients who have supported me throughout my journey as an esthetician and business owner. Moore Than Skin Esthetics simply wouldn’t be what it is today without their trust, loyalty, and ongoing support. My clients have been there with me through every step, believing in my vision and trusting me with their skincare needs. I feel so grateful to have such incredible, understanding clientele who have helped shape my business into what it is today. To each of them, thank you for your unwavering support and for being a vital part of this journey—I truly appreciate and adore every single one of you.
