Meet Steve Wallace | Freelance Audio Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steve, what’s your definition for success?
To me success is based on accomplishing the goals and dreams you set for yourself in life whether they are personal or professional. So my personal definition is to have a career I love that’s able to provide for my family and discover things that I enjoy in life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to think my friendliness, willingness to grow and keeping things simple sets me apart from others. Truthfully I’m just proud to be where I’m at and excited to see what the future has in store for me. I think I’ve gotten to where I am by continuous hands on learning and Youtube University. With the amount of information that’s on YouTube you can learn just about anything these days. It definitely wasn’t easy, but being in an environment where the people around you are willing to help when you have questions or make mistakes is a game changer. Being able to learn from your mistakes is crucial because it’s key to learning and being open to new ideas. I want the world to know that having a hard work ethic, willingness to grow and a positive attitude can get you exactly where you need to be on your journey.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Probably as much Mexican food as I can because we have some great spots out here. Definitely Saint Anejo and Otto’s for some tacos and margs. I’m a big whiskey/bourbon guy so definitely the Nelson’s Greenbrier Distillery and The Fox. See what shows are happening at Exit/In , The End or Marathon Music Works. Definitely go to a hockey game if it’s in season because the atmosphere is incredible. I really just enjoy finding new restaurants and cocktail bars in town because they all have such different styles and atmosphere. For me the most fun and interesting things are away from downtown where it’s a bit more relaxed.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I had to narrow it down it would be my friends, family and anyone who’s ever supported me or given me a chance! Couldn’t have done it without any of them. And a special shoutout to Alex Mehner for getting me my only internship and Jason Harris for recommending me for my first gig.
