Meet Stephanie Long | Founder & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Long and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing that people are unaware of regarding Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is that it’s a long game, unlike running paid advertisements. You won’t see keyword ranking results in a week, a month, or even two months; it usually takes three months to start seeing which keywords are driving traffic to a site.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My dream growing up was to become a professional volleyball player and make it to the Olympics until I tore my rotator cuff, which derailed my career dreams. My other favorite thing to do was write – I’ve journaled my whole life, so I decided that my career was going to involve writing. I took a few years off after high school to figure out what my career would look like, and then I decided to get my Bachelors and Masters in Communication from the University of Washington.
I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur because my grandpa came here from Norway and built his business from the ground up, so he was someone I aspired to be like. I didn’t know what my business would be or what the entrepreneur journey would look like, but someday I knew that I would own my own business.
After getting laid off twice from the same company, I knew this was the universe telling me that I needed to go out on my own. Prior to getting laid off for a second time, she was planning her exit from the company, so they just sped up the timeline a little.
So, after spending over a decade working in marketing, I saw a need for a company that only specializes in SEO, which is why I founded Mrs. SEO. What I love the most about SEO is that it’s constantly changing and evolving so it never gets stagnant. I named my company Mrs. SEO because I want to be the top go-to female SEO expert and speak at large conferences, TEDx being my dream conference to speak at.
My passions include long-distance running, reading thrillers, watching movies, listening to true crime podcasts, and paddle boarding (when the sun comes out)! I have two fur babies – a Calico and a Maine Coon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s hard to name one person or one organization that has helped me get to where I am today, but more so many people and many groups. I surround myself with like-minded and encouraging people, and people who are more successful than me, and this is where I have learned how to be a businesswoman.
