We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefanie Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stefanie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
If we really want to change the world, we need to work to change the world we can see around us. The community that we interact with on a daily basis is where the real impact can be made. I am working with individual people on how to exist inside their own lives. That alone is sometimes extremely challenging. I also have a chance to work in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging world helping people to navigate Cultural differences in the real world and online. This work is so important today. Every single person can improve on Intercultural competence. We all have ways to learn how to move through a multi-cultural existence. This begins by finding out where you are and how you navigate these things right now in your life. I love the IDI or Intercultural Development Inventory as a tool to help people start off in this very important work. You must know where you are so you can get to where you want to be. It’s a lesson in actual Impact over Intent. These conversations help us all to create spaces in our lives where we are seen, heard and valued and other people can feel the same in our presence. Working with individual people who are all doing many different types of work in the world will have a ripple effect on how people treat each other. More kindness, compassion and empathy are necessary for the cultures we all live in to improve. I work very hard on doing these things with my clients and am constantly seeking for self-improvement as well. Being able to have hard conversations and keeping myself open to constructive criticism is essential. I strive to be transparent and supportive of my clients and friends and family by showing up in the world in a way that can be helpful to myself and others. I love working with people and seeing their own progress. I consider myself to be the ultimate cheerleader.

Micro changes in individual people’s lives lead to macro changes in culture.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It is not easy to own your own Business or to put yourself out there to increase your opportunities. I have found that being open to genuine conversations with others has been the best way for me to increase my network of professionals. Working on Active Listening without intent to judge people has helped me so much. I have to pace myself because I am the only person working at my business and so I am not able to grow too quickly at this time. My family is a huge priority for me and I also have another branch of my business where I clean people’s homes. I am currently working on shifting this side of my business to hire some people to do the cleaning for me and I would like to be more of and Administrator. This all takes a lot of patience and a lot of work.

I have learned that it is so important to take care of myself. I need to be able to stay excited about the work and that means making sure my physical and mental health are a priority. I need lots of good quality rest and time with family and friends.

I have also been moving towards the things that light me up and excite me. The feeling of fulfillment after a great session with a client where they are engaged and curious makes me so happy and thrilled every single time. I am so grateful to be able to do this very important work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anyone who is coming to Nashville has so many great places to choose from! I for sure would encourage anyone who loves history to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum as well as the National Museum of African American Music. If you love Live music, you can choose from so many places downtown. My personal favorite bands to see downtown are Three Lane and Whiskey, Cash and Roses and I would encourage you to see where they play and go see them!

We love Eating at Nectar, Urban Cantina in Donelson and McCabe’s Pub in Sylvan Park. We also love Habenero Grill in Donelson and places like Party Fowl or HattieB’s Hot Chicken are delicious. The Gulch has a lot of great restaurants and East Nashville has great Ice Cream and Coffee shops. Jenis Ice Cream is always good and Slim and Husky’s is delicious single serve pizza and desserts.

The downtown area is so much fun to walk around. You can go across the Pedestrian Bridge and see a cool view of the city as well as visit the Titan’s stadium. There is no shortage of places to see and places to eat. You can visit the Johnny Cash museum downtown and also eat Googoo Clusters and visit the coolest Taco Bell I have ever seen. Its the Taco Bell Cantina on Second Avenue North.

I would encourage you to look to see what artists are in town playing at the Bridgestone and also check smaller venues like the Ryman Auditorium or the Listening Room. The options are endless!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am very grateful to Heather Sanders at A Sanders Company. She has introduced me to the IDI Process and helped my to become a Qualified Administrator so I can help other people increase their Intercultural awareness and competence. She has given me a chance to really see how this work is impactful and she has helped mentor me through this process.
