We had the good fortune of connecting with Soheill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Soheill, why did you pursue a creative career?
Music has been my jam since I was around 4-5 years of age. I remember going to those house parties where my cousin played guitar, and I was hooked. While other kids were monkeying around, I was transfixed by the magic flowing from those strings. It was then that I knew I wanted to create music. Even now, I still hold onto that initial spark of passion when things get tough. Music has this crazy power to stop time, and I can be present. That feeling is like nothing else, and it’s where I find my happy place. I treasure it so much because those melodies are a part of me that I never want to let go of.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an artist, I’ve discovered that the path to pursuing one’s passion is rarely smooth. Still, it’s precisely this challenge that fuels my excitement. I relish the opportunity to defy societal norms and carve out my unique journey. Authenticity has become my guiding principle; I’ve learned that audiences can easily discern sincerity from artifice. Crafting music and sharing it with the world is my joy. In my compositions, I explore the interplay between the familiar and the new.

My journey as a musician began at 11, fueled by an unyielding obsession with the guitar. By 15, songwriting became my calling, and I knew music was my true path. Throughout my high school years, I immersed myself in the melodies of Metallica and the vocals of Chris Cornell, drawn inexorably to the allure of rock ‘n’ roll.

Relocating from Iran to the US introduced me to the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, where I pursued my passion alongside a day job as a graphic designer. In the heart of LA, I immersed myself in the city’s rhythm, performing with bands like Evolve and Side 8 at iconic venues like Hotel Cafe and Viper Room.

Amid my musical journey, I delved into the world of music production, finding a new obsession in bringing songs to life through Garageband. Balancing my artistic endeavors with the demands of everyday life was challenging. Still, I remained steadfast in my commitment to my craft, finding solace in pursuing my passion.

Rejection is an inevitable part of the artistic journey, but it catalyzes growth and resilience. Through it all, I’ve learned the importance of staying true to my purpose and finding inspiration in the simplest moments. Whether lost in the desert with just my guitar or performing on stage, I strongly believe in the power of authenticity.

Ultimately, my music is more than just melodies and lyrics; it reflects my journey and is a testament to the transformative power of self-expression. If my story and music can inspire others to embrace their authenticity and pursue their dreams, my mission will be fulfilled.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let’s start with something exciting. Taking a trip to Broadway would be my first suggestion. We could hit up Tootsies and Roberts for drinks and enjoy some live music. After experiencing the wild side of Downtown Nashville, we could head to Dino’s in East Nashville for some late-night burgers and fries.

For a more relaxed day, we could visit Shelby Park, enjoy some fresh air, and go on a nice hike with our furry friends. After that, we could check out some vintage stores like Starstruck and grab a delicious sandwich from Mitchell’s Deli.

If we’re up for a little road trip, Leipers Fork would be a great place to visit for some delicious BBQ and hanging out at Puckett’s. Finally, we could go kayaking in the Harpeth River with some cold beers on a warm spring day. There’s nothing quite like floating down a river and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel like there are countless individuals out there who deserve a massive shoutout, but it all honestly begins with my incredible parents. Without their unwavering support and tireless efforts, I wouldn’t be living in the land of the free, pursuing my dreams with unbridled enthusiasm. You see, I was born in Iran, and my family and I took a huge leap of faith when we moved to America when I was just seven years old. It was a tumultuous time, full of challenges and uncertainties, but my parents never lost hope and never stopped working hard to give us a better life. And for that, I am eternally grateful.
