Meet Shira Wilson | Wedding & portrait photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shira Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shira, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I think every entrepreneur knows how hard it can be to find balance. It’s easy to work yourself into a hole. At some points in time I was up at random hours of the day & night working. I still struggle but now I actually take the time I need to rest & recharge. I realize how important it is to take care of me. I can’t give my best to my clients if I’m worn out & exhausted
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been doing this for over 10 years & it hasn’t been easy. And I’d be lying if I said I’ve overcome it, because I haven’t. It’s still a challenge & it’s hard. Working for yourself, working in the service industry is hard! But I’m proud of the connections I’ve made with my clients. They wonderful people I’ve met over the years who invite me back into their lives year after year
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First thing we’d do is get tacos from Taconganas! Hands down the best tacos in Memphis. Visit Tom Lee park, drinks at babalu, go to the zoo, food from India Palace, ice cream from Sweet Noshings.. basically we’d just eat the entire trip!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents! Growing up I knew I wanted to take a different route than the typical college & career path. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do but I knew I didn’t want a typical 9-5 job & they supported me.
