Meet Sheree Greider | Painter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheree Greider and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheree, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
In 2017 at the age of 62, I made the leap from amateur artist to professional artist. It had been a lifelong dream to be a full-time painter but I had to wait until it was the right time. It was as though I dived into a creative river and I painted hours every day. Doors began to open and since that time I have painted somewhere around 700 paintings and have shipped them throughout the US.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work as a storyteller in paint. Sometimes it’s a landscape with a dramatic sky and other times it may be a portrait of an old warrior or a street person. I’m basically self-taught and I rely largely on emotion with vivid color and loads of texture. Last year at 68 I started college to get my art degree. It really is “never too late” to reach higher and learn new things. I pray to keep developing and grow in my craft.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Goodness, I’d have to think about that. I don’t go out much. I love walking along the river in Murfreesboro or eating Thai food.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family have been my biggest supporters, my husband, my children, grandchildren, my mom and siblings. In the beginning they all encouraged me to know that it wasn’t too late for me to realize my dream. They bought me canvas, frames, approached venues for me. They took photos and made flyers and lifted me up to know that with God’s help and hard work I could be the painter that I always dreamed of. I owe them a great deal!
