We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Tillman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SHANNON, what matters most to you?
I value customer service. Being a service provider, how you treat your customers will determine if they will return to you or not. Good customer service and attitude will propel any business forward. People want to be treated fairly. I treat all of my clients like they’re my friend from the beginning. Why? Because without my clients Slayed Klaws would not exist. I appreciate them and I treat them with respect while giving them the best experience I can including excellent customer service.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I believe what sets me apart is my love for Jesus and that I pray over my business and clients. I give God all the glory when it comes to Slayed Klaws because it was Him who gave me the passion and strength to come this far. I am most proud of the fact that people tell me often that I inspire them and I absolutely love that. I never consider that I am an inspiration to others because I never consider who is watching me. But I thank God that I can be an example of what it looks like to give God your YES!

I got here with alot of prayer and a great attitude. I have considered that things aren’t always easy but I remind myself that being an entrepreneur is a FAITH WALK. I walk by faith and not by sight in my personal and business life. This walk wasn’t easy but with God it has been light.

My biggest challenge was gaining clientele. It took a while but I started posting while I was in school. I continued to post pictures and also do my own nails. I told others who I thought would be interested in my services.

I learned that no matter what having other people who believe in you will help you along the way. My teacher Duriya Caldwell would recommend me to clients, answer any questions I may have , and show me things that I wasnt part of the curriculum.

I want the world to know that Slayed Klaws is a safe space. Slayed Klaws although a new brand is all about personality…your personality. No one gets the same design as another client. I draw inspiration from other sets and add my own spin on it to fit the client. At Slayed Klaws it’s all about YOU…..the client.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well Memphis has alot of different spots to check out. Well the Memphis Zoo is one of the best in the nation. The Brooks Museum is right in the same area…definitely check it out. Porch and Parlor is great for an good steak and ambiance. The Manhattan Club has great food and a live band some Saturday nights. Georgia Blue in Southaven MS is also a good spot for karaoke. The Dixon Museum and Gardens is a beautiful place to visit. Beale Street has a bunch of eateries and sometimes a live band on Sunday afternoons. Check out a Memphis Grizzly game while you’re in town and see the beautiful lights on the bridge at night. You can have a good dinner and a cruise on the Memphis Queen. There’s so much to do in Memphis and it’s surrounding areas but definitely come by and check out Slayed Klaws for a great mani and pedi.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out my husband Leon Tillman for his support and unconditional love. My family, friends, and clients for everything they do to keep Slayed Klaws in business. I also wanna shout out my friend and marketing advisor Moffatt Gordon who has helped me with all of my branding merchandise from the logo, business cards to clothing. Mostly I wanna Shout-out Duriya Caldwell the owner of The Black Pearl Nail Academy in Memphis Tennessee for her renowned teaching, inspiration, passion, and instilling in me all the tools I would need to build this business and to service my clients. I also wanna shoutout my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me the passion and a vision for this life. Without him I am nothing.
