Meet Shadale Smith | Artist/Visionary

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shadale Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shadale, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Lanae Bloom was developed from my personal experience, overcoming depression through activities like reading, writing, and painting. I wrote scripture affirmations on sticky notes and scattered them around my house. One day, I felt inspired to create color pages, which eventually became a coloring book. I added journals and art activities, which shifted Lanae Bloom’s focus to promoting self-empowerment and spreading joy, peace, and kindness. Our primary focus is to create empowering and inspiring murals, paintings, and art activities. We encourage individuals to speak life to themselves, build themselves up, and Bloom!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Through my art, I tell my story. Every stroke of color, carefully chosen words, and intricate patterns all contribute to the narrative that is distinctly mine. I have made a conscious decision to use my art as a platform to speak life and inspire others to do the same. My intention is to spread joy, peace, and kindness through my creative expressions, touching the hearts of those who encounter my work. By sharing my story and encouraging positivity, I aim to make a meaningful impact on the world around me.
It is truly fulfilling to work with young artists and guide them towards believing in themselves and their dreams. By nurturing their talents and instilling confidence, I hope to encourage them to embrace their creative potential and pursue their aspirations. I am grateful to be a mentor to potentially help shape the lives of our youth and contribute to the growth of the artistic community as a whole.
As an artist, I have encountered numerous obstacles, including moments of self-doubt and facing rejection. However, these challenges have served as valuable lessons that have shaped my journey. They have taught me the importance of resilience, the ability to adapt to different circumstances, and the significance of believing in myself. By staying focused on “my why”, the core purpose and passion that drives me as an artist, I have been able to navigate through these obstacles and remain committed to my artistic entrepreneurial path. It is through perseverance and dedication to my craft that I continue to grow and thrive.
I wholeheartedly share my belief in using my gift to make a positive impact on others. I embody my own unique experiences, including the highs and lows, and push forward to overcome challenges. Through my art, murals, and various activities, I aim to touch the lives of those who see my work. I hope that they can connect with my creations on a personal level, sparking a journey within themselves, and ultimately, inspiring them to extend that same support and encouragement to others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a Nashville native, I can tell you, there are so many places to visit here to eat, drink, shop, or hangout! Nashville is known for their hot chicken and food. A few good places would be Princes Hot Chicken, Slim n’ Husky’s, Hattie B’s, and Velvet Taco.
As far as daytime hangout spots, I am more of a laid-back southern gal. Centennial Park, for a walk, or the Farmer’s Market which has lots of small businesses to visit, fresh veggies, and my favorite, Gardens of Babylon.
Nashville nights are always busy and unique with the rooftop bars, honky tonks, lounges, and party buses!
Overall, Nashville offers fun, interesting, and exciting places to explore. Whether it’s music, food, shopping, or riding city scooters, yall will definitely find something to do!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am a firm believer, and I wouldn’t be here without the guidance and blessings of God. I am immensely grateful for the journey He has led me on, providing me with the unwavering faith and strength necessary to persevere.
As a creative individual, I face unique challenges. However, I am fortunate to have a supportive network of artist friends and fellow creatives who continuously encourage me to share my story through my brush. I’m grateful to have a tribe that recognizes the significance of the arts in our world, and we do what it takes to make it happen.
Additionally, I am deeply appreciative of organizations like Backfield in Motion and Edgehill Brighterdays, who not only believe in my artistic endeavors but also provide me with platforms to utilize my art as a means of inspiring others, particularly the younger generation.
