We had the good fortune of connecting with Seth Bunting and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seth, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
Choosing a career in music was a hard decision, but leaving home and moving for work was the most difficult for me. I have an amazing supportive family who helped me grow my career as a kid. Growing up and having to take that on the road was the best decision for my career as a whole, networking, collaborating, touring, recording, a lot of that is so accessible in Nashville. When I turned 16 I got homeschooled to finish out high school and moved into my own apartment in Nashville, Tn. It really was like living a dream, but I also think of all the time I’ve missed, high school graduation, prom, my nieces growing up, my grandmother passing away, very pivotal moments of life you may miss out on sometimes for your art and passion. I couldn’t do it without their support even to this day. If I didn’t have a family who supported those decisions it would be even harder.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started doing music as a kid and never grew out of it. First, in musical theater, then in church, and at 16 I moved to Nashville to pursue my professional music career full-time. I feel like experiencing all of that turned me into exactly what/who I am today, a soulful pop singer/songwriter entertainer. I love being on stage and connecting with people, and I take that soulful gospel sound with me everywhere, through my country releases and now pop, some things never change! It was sincerely not as easy for me getting into this business as one may think, I started by getting “discovered” in a singing competition at a local mall, they got me in contact with a lot of songwriters and producers that ended up working with me on my debut record, but it wasn’t until I became an “indie” artist within the last two or three years that I actually started to see real growth in my career on an authentic level with an ever broader audience that related to what I was saying just on a basic human experience level. A lot of this EP is just about getting back up after being knocked down and accepting those emotions for what they are, which can be applied in all scenarios. For me it was work and love, but I’ve never delved into a project lyrically like this. It was not easy getting here, but the listeners acceptance to my story has completely helped me overcome those challenges within myself and my creativity, so thank YOU!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I have friends or family visiting the Nashville area, which I do often, I like to play tour guide and show them my hidden gems, such as my favorite park trails, speakeasy’s, house-bands, etc. I love walking through printers alley, I may take them to donut distillery where you find donut and mimosa flights, sometimes we’ll stop by a brewery like Tennfold, happy hours like Lockeland Table, maybe shaved ice for dessert at cotton and snow location downtown! I love outdoor activities and love it even more when my dog can join, whether that’s on the water or the patio! So many options in a city that never sleeps.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Growing up in Boone County, WV was a little slice of heaven hidden in coal valley. My brother, Tyler, and I both enjoyed creating music. He influenced me heavily growing up, playing in a band of his own. As a child my interest took to musical theater first then music and songwriting later, so we never got to collaborate on music much, until now. Ten years now since moving to Nashville, He has a beautiful life and family of his own at home, and is an amazing music producer. We decided to start a project together, though it would mostly be remote work. We built my upcoming project “Words in my Mouth” from scratch starting mid 2023, and its finally coming out July 2024! Its such a great creative experience to do a project this authentic with your brother, and to have created, recorded, written, mixed and release this together is something we will always be proud of and connected to. Thank you all for listening to it, and this shoutout is for Tyler Bunting who influenced and encouraged me to release and create this project with him!
