We had the good fortune of connecting with Serreta Boson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Serreta, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I honestly believe the most important factor behind my brand….MY FAITH IN GOD!! I have believed even when others would have quit. I have trusted Him even when I could not trace Him. And because of that… I have been my authentic self.
I am your PICKLE LADY… lol

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First let me say, customer service was my niche. I love it. Then life handed me lemons. I had to have brain surgery. I was told I could no longer work. That I was a liability. I was devastated. My Dad said he would teach me how to make his “famous” pickles. I told him I was going to start a company. So against the all odds I started Sarge’s Famous Pickles Co., LLC.
I am a black woman with bad credit and now I am disabled. But I was determined this would not be my story.
Again I leaned into my faith… I prayed. I pickled. I praised.
That’s how I overcame the challenges and hurdles. .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Little Rock… we are going to the Rock It Lab an entrepreneur incubator. Where my village resides. Next we are going to eat Sarge’s Famous fries pickles at Certified Pies the only black pizzeria in Arkansas. Then we would go downtown to check out the night life. Next we have got to eat lunch at The Brave New restaurant where they use Sarge’s Famous Pickles on their burgers.
Next day we are eating at Trio’s restaurant in West Little Rock. We will get their charcuterie board because they use Sarge’s Famous Pickles.

Hot Springs is a cool place.
Murfreesboro is cool to dig for diamonds.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many…. First the man behind Sarge’s Famous Pickles… Sarge, himself, my Dad Sylvester Boson. He taught me how to can and make pickles. Then I met an awesome man… Benito Lubazibwa. He is the Founder and CEO of ReMix Ideas. They have a business academy which teaches how to have a solid and sustainable business. He was an instant motivator cheerleader. He named me the Pickle Lady. He is an awesome mentor. He is a friend. He is wise counsel.
And then there is my family. My kids, brothers and sister. My nieces and nephews…. They all deserve a SHOUTOUT.
