Meet Sarah Jameson | Fashion Designer`

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Jameson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think about risk as an amazing opportunity..I believe that on the other side of risk is great reward regardless if you *fail* or succeed. Risk can seem scary but I truly think the ability to believe in yourself and your skills to take on the challenge at hand implements a level of confidence and pride that can only be gained by facing the uncertainty of risk. I have found so much knowledge/wisdom in taking risks, how to believe in myself, how to get better the next time around. I see these challenges everyday, from the first thought of quitting my 9-5 job to go out on my own, to saying Yes to projects I have no experience in – based on my*knowing* of my capabilities.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My favorite medium I have been working with is vintage wedding gowns, taking these pieces whether they be the mother of the brides old wedding gown, or thrifted, and creating new aged designs. I credit myself for being an extremely sentimental person, so to take a heirloom garment and breathe new life into it for a bride to wear on her wedding day, brings me so much joy. This is such a special project to work on and being able to weave new and old traditions into these garments is what I love most. This can me a scary task when working on a gown that has been in the family for so many years, but again as I mentioned the reward out weighs all risk, and seeing the reactions from the mother, or grandmother who originally wore this gown, is 100% priceless. I call just about all my designs passion projects because I truly pour so much of myself into each gown. This is the most important day in my brides life and I want to do my part to make her feel her absolute best on her wedding day. This is a service I have been offering for about 6 years, as it is now trending on tiktok I love to see how others around the world are implanting the values of taking something old and creating something brand new. the cycle of life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would 100% start at Marathon Village, this is where my studio is located and it is such a unique piece of Nashville. I love the electricity of being downtown in the heart of Music City. Whether we are prancing around the arts crawls at the first of the month, a small bar on the east side, or hitting every rooftop on broadway..my friends and I love to have fun. Titans game would definitely be on the itinerary. I have some food friends who are musicians and DJs so we would absolutely have to check out their sets and support our people!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom. I remember calling her after every single shift my first job out of college CRYING. I absolutely hated it. I needed to know that the rest of my life didn’t have to be this *miserable* just to be able to pay my bills. When thinking of quitting and venturing out on my own I remember asking her what her opinion was. She said to me “I can’t tell you to quit your job, but I can tell you that I will support whatever decision you decide to make”. Frustrated by this answer at the time, I now look back on that frequently and thank her for that response. She has always had a way of reminding me that I am in control of my life and my future. Since going out on my own she has been such a cheerleader, #1 employee, first person to give me hard truths, and so so much more. The encouragement I have felt from my entire family and friends is unlike anything I have ever experienced. I call them My Village, because I truly believe that it takes all of us to succeed and then to feel proud of that success.
