Meet Sarah Gargano | Singer/songwriter & craft-maker!

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Gargano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think ‘the higher the risk, the higher the reward’ is often very true. It can be daunting to put a lot of time & energy into a project that you know might not yield the results you want, but ultimately the art will always be better when you put time (& a little bit of $) into it!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Pursuing art is never easy as it comes with so much vulnerability. But from a young age, I was creative and couldn’t picture myself following a career path that isn’t creative/art-related. I know if I wasn’t pursuing songwriting, it would be something else (writing a novel or a tv show etc.!). If I wasn’t pursuing music and other creative endeavors as a career, even if I lived in the middle of nowhere alone in the woods or something, I’d still be writing music & making art. So I just find it important to remind myself why I do it & not get too caught up in comparison with where I am in my career.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend from home has visited a few times now! We’ve gone to a couple of waterfalls, went to Cheekwood, Centennial, Bicentennial, Robert’s, bars in East (Ernie’s, Dino’s, & more), a couple of shows at The Ryman, Bluebird, some awesome restaurants (Margot, Butcher & Bee, Monell’s & more). Really just tried to hit the touristy spots as well as my personal favorite and regular spots in town.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Everyone I’ve ever collaborated with in Nashville! For my own artist project, I owe a lot to Aaron Sprinkle & Shannon McArthur who produced my 1st EP when I was 18 almost a decade ago. Having someone believe in your art & vision & help bring it to life at a young age is so important. And Jared Corder from Polychrome Studios who’s been recording my most recent projects has been amazing. Popsquad, TONS, the Who’s Next rounds, and most rounds in general have been great for meeting my favorite co-writers & artists in town. For my jewelry business, I’ve been especially grateful to the Gimme More Market!
