We had the good fortune of connecting with Saasha Plefka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saasha, what principle do you value most?
One of the guiding principles for my life and business is generosity. I believe in the concept of sowing and reaping, therefore our giving will be multiplied back to us… allowing us to give even more! I love giving and it is contagious! Giving gives meaning and value to every facet of our lives.

What should our readers know about your business?
Beauty Bridge is a social enterprise, we are both a profit business and a nonprofit organization. This is an innovative framework that allows us to give back and pay it forward. There have been challenges along the way, but we have been able to find support and like minded advisors that have added to our community and expanded our reach. I have learned to ask for help and offer help when I can. Beauty Bridge offers free hair and skincare services to women in need in a luxury salon environment with licensed, experienced beauty professionals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We are located in Parkville, a neighborhood located in the west side of Hartford. I would take our guest to the Parkville Market, the first food hall in Connecticut, to choose a great meal from cuisine from all over the world. We would walk through Bushnell Park, a beautiful urban park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. And then tour the historic capital building of Connecticut. For another day, we would visit Westport, a quaint town located on the Connecticut Shoreline. We would have a picnic on the beach and then shop in the unique shops. Lastly, we would spend day three hiking in the western part of the state and enjoying the country appeal of Bantam, topping off the day with dinner at Arethusa Farm and staying the night at the one of a kind Winvian Farm, waking up to a day of spa treatments at the Mayflower Inn.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom – she is the co-founder of the organization and the inspiration for Beauty Bridge.
