We had the good fortune of connecting with ryn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ryn, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“If it’s meant for you, it will come to you”, is my favorite affirmation. Since adopting this mentality I’ve felt such relief from stress about whether I’m going to make it in the music industry or not. Might sound weird, especially given how dedicated I am to my music and driven to make it happen for myself, but now I no longer really care if I make it big or not. If I don’t, it wasn’t meant for me. If I do, then it was always meant to be and there was no reason for stress or worry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m still figuring it all out! much to my surprise, 22-year-olds don’t have all their shit together! As a writer I am capable of writing and connecting to so many different sounds and sub-genres within pop that it’s incredibly difficult to choose just one vibe, sound, style. Working with my producer, Andrew Furze, for the last 8 months, he’s shown me that I don’t need to choose just one side of myself. Because I am young and still have only half an idea of who I am, I can let that be apart of me as an artist! Through our creative exploration I’ve really found my love and passion in retro dance pop. Reminiscent of the 80’s and 2000’s, these new bangers we’re working on bring some club nostalgia along with a whole new fresh sound. The hardest part of this journey is every industry professional telling you that you have to know exactly who you are and what you are going to represent. I want to represent people like me, the ones who don’t have a straight answer to questions about branding or style, the ones who are still just figuring it out, the ones who are living life and not trying to over simplify everything into a one line phrase.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We gotta start off strong with a concert! My favorite music venues have to be the Fonda, El Rey, and smaller venues like the Roxy. Being from the suburbs, I still need a tour guide in the city sometimes lol! I will say, LA beaches are alright but the best ones are tucked away along PCH in Malibu or local spots in Ventura County (where I’m from).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have so many people to thank for getting me where I am today and I’m sure hundreds more once I reach the top of the hill that is music. #1 being my parents for supporting me in all my creative adventures, starting me in dance at 3 years old, supporting me when I told them I wanted to quit dance, and most of all, being the ones who told me I needed to sing, seeing the little talent that 13-year-old ryn had. They are my rock, my home, my heart and I can’t wait to share any success that finds me in my life with them. #2) I have to give credit where credit is due to the most badass, determined, and rock-n-roll woman I know, my manager Jessie Monville (musicbusinessnerd.com). Talk about overcoming tragedies and struggles, my manager will rest at nothing to do what she loves, manage artists, and be in the music. I also have her to thank for connecting me with my producer and third honorable mention. #3) Andrew Furze, the most talented and creative producer I’ve had the pleasure of working with and having believed in me and my sound. Working with him over the last 8 months has been incredible. He’s helped me to push boundaries with my sound and find my unique voice in pop.
