We had the good fortune of connecting with Russell James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Russell, what inspires you?
We are inspired by creation. We are inspired by creating an atmosphere that makes people smile or makes people get away from their everyday lives for a couple of hours. Our shows and music are created with the idea that we are providing enjoyment for someone out there at any minute of any day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are a band. People ask us what genre we are and it’s getting harder and harder to explain. Our music has hints of pop country, rock n roll, alternative, & pop. Has the journey been easy as a band over the years? No…. this band has seen breakups, changeovers, scheduling conflicts, musical differences, and a lack of support over the years, but we keep pursuing and pushing our vision because we believe in it. Its also becoming less frequent & more enjoyable as we all get older. We know that our time is limited, but we are still trying to fulfill that need for creation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Obviously I’d tell my best friend to visit around a show date. If we were playing in Boston, locally, our itinerary would include a Bruins game, a haunted Ghosts & Gravestones Trolley Tour, and trying our luck at the blackjack table at Encore Casino. We would also check out some of the best “secret” restaurants around the city for a fun atmosphere, drinks, and eats.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As a band, we need to recognize every member. Tim, Adam, Josh, Andria, Tom & myself are all different people that come together and create something that we all enjoy and love to share with the world. In an industry that sees bands as a dying trend, that’s where we all give each other credit and recognition. As individuals, we are creators, artists, musicians, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, but as a group, we are a perfectly tuned 6-string guitar.
