We had the good fortune of connecting with Renee Hayes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renee, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Kelley always put family first in his career. He gave up some high paying positions over the years to be home with our kids and able to attend all their activities and sports. Kelley was able to retire early and does contract work remotely as we travel the country in our fifth wheel camper.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our plan was always to retire early and travel the country in an RV. Four years prior to Kelleys retirement we were relocated to the Atlanta, Georgia area. We had recently bought a fifth wheel camper to camp on weekends & holidays. We decided instead of buying a home in Georgia we donated or sold everything and began tiny living fulltime in our 2019 Keystone Raptor fifth wheel toy hauler. In order to share our RV adventures with family & friends we began our Instagram account @fiftyandfifthwheeling. We have no regrets and love that we were able to start our RV adventures sooner than we had planned.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love Tennessee. It’s such a beautiful state and there are so many things to do. We have been to Nashville & loved Franklin, TN. I would take them to downtown Nashville to Honky Tonk Central to see all of the bars and listen to the music. During the day we would visit the County Music Hall of Fame. One day we would shop the farmers market & Main Street in Franklin. My favorite restaurant in Franklin is Pucketts Restaurant. We would definitely head to the Grand Ole Opry for some country music. Another day we would go paddle boarding on J Percy Priest Reservoir and we would also have to eat at Hattie B’s hot Chicken.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Kelley’s parents were RVers and his Dad was able to retire early also. He set the example to work hard, invest smart and then enjoy the life of early retirement.
