We had the good fortune of connecting with Ren Richards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ren, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from South Florida. Growing up down there is like experiencing many worlds in one. You have people from all over, and being exposed to different cultures, traditions and paths of life opened my mind from a young age. It’s a place that pushes you out of your comfort zone and forces you to grow. Preparing me for whatever Nashville had in store when I made the choice to move here for music.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a music artist in nashville, TN. As of now, I call my genre ‘alt/singer-songwriter’ as my background is in rock music but I also am inspired and love songwriters like Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, and Sara Bareilles. I recently released a new single “Myself With You” all about discovering yourself in new love, and a Christmas song called “the cheer” hitting on how the holidays can feel melancholy at times. I’m also excited for 2024 as I have so much new music coming out!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start the morning off getting kolaches and breakfast tacos at Yeast in East Nashville. Then, head to Grimey’s for some record shopping, and Anaconda vintage to see what gems we can find. Once done there, we’d drive to Centennial Park to spend the afternoon walking around the park and checking out the Parthenon- which Nashville is known for. For dinner, I love my local sushi spot Sonobana, good food and service. We’d finish off the night with some karaoke at Santa’s Pub.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have so many family and friends that have been with me on this journey since the start. Their constant belief and support of my projects has been the encouragement I need when times get tough! I’m forever grateful and could not do it without them.
