Meet Reilly Day | Owner & Lead Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Reilly Day and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reilly, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is authenticity. I never want to convey a false persona to my clients, I want them to know what they see is what they get! We live in a world full of false narratives, it is more important now than ever to be authentically me. Without authenticity, it is extremely difficult to create a positive lasting impact on your clients!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Photography is so much more than just snapping a picture, I am getting to pause time for a moment to create a memory that you can look back on for the rest of your life. There is nothing more special than being invited into the most intimate and sacred moments in someone’s life. In addition, I’m able to document multiple milestones for some of my clients! My business wouldn’t be here today if I wouldn’t have made the leap back in 2020 to dive deeper into photography education. I spent the first year of work taking any job I could and all of the money I earned was invested in my business. I didn’t net a penny the first year BUT it led me to so many opportunities that set me on the path to where I am today. When money was tight and it seemed like I would never truly “make it,” I kept pushing myself to keep going. That first year was definitely the hardest. I missed countless family and friend events due to working almost every weekend. I was constantly drained from always being plugged into work, but thankfully all my hard work paid off. I have been operating the business I dreamt of for over three years now!

When it comes down to it, I want to truly get to know my clients, I want to authentically tell their story! I am not going to just be someone who shows up at the time of your shoot and then sends an email when your gallery is over. It is a joy to capture such significant moments and bring out their personality, and I wouldn’t be successful without getting taking time to honor their story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love downtown Franklin! Being a Franklin native, I can’t help but find myself always going back there for any and everything! I love their festivals, local restaurants and small businesses! Another fan favorite of mine, where I take all my guests, is Loveless Cafe. It’s Nashville on a plate.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my incredible husband who has believed in me since day one! Stephen, without you O Happy Day wouldn’t exist! You saw my potential far before I even saw it in myself. Thank you for investing in my work and pushing me to be the business owner I am today, I couldn’t do this without you!
