Meet Rachel Schumacher | Singer/songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Schumacher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I’ve always been big into taking risks. Being a musician is a risk in itself. Nothing is ever guaranteed. I originally went to college to be a veterinarian, & when I was no longer feeling fulfilled, I knew I needed to make a change. I decided to drop everything & move to Nashville to chase my dreams. I had no idea what I was going to do, I just knew I needed to take the risk so I wouldn’t regret it later in life. Even if I failed, at least I tried.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing that I think really sets me apart from other musicians is my authenticity and honesty in my music. I try to write straight from my heart & tell real stories about my life. I also like to portray this through my social media as well. I talk about my experiences living as a full time musician in Nashville. There are so many ups & downs that I want my audience to experience along with me. I was able to get to the spot I’m at now by staying true to myself & not trying to conform to what everyone else is doing. Sometimes it can be difficult, but it makes it so much more fulfilling in the long run. I have so much new music coming out this year that I am super proud of. At this point in my life, I’m just so grateful to be singing & writing songs for a living.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I LOVE showing people around Nashville because it is just one of the coolest cities I’ve ever been to. There’s so much good food, live music, & night life. Some of my favorite restaurants are Bar Taco in 12 South, O Ku in Germantown, and of course Daddy’s Dogs for a late night hot dog. I also love to get a coffee & then walk around 12 South. It’s just a cute little neighborhood that has lots of boutiques, restaurants, bars, & murals for pictures. One of my favorite bars to go to is the Nashville Palace out by the Opry. They have line dancing on the weekends which is one of my new favorite hobbies. They also do lessons earlier in the night if you need to learn! Some other bars I love are Red Door Saloon in Midtown, Losers in Midtown, Jason Aldeans, Whiskey Row, & Santa’s Pub.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I really just want to recognize my parents for supporting me through my whole music career. They helped me move everything from Missouri to Tennessee & still come down frequently to help with whatever I need. They even watch my dogs for me when I go on the road with my band. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without their constant support.
