We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Horter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me happy in what I do is the fact that it makes others happy. Being able to contribute to someone’s experience in a positive way is my favorite part about my job. People come from all over to vacation in Nashville and getting to give them a memory to take with them is a joy for me, and the same applies when I visit other cities as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a pop, r&b artist based out of Nashville, TN. I’m a singer, writer, performer and businesswoman but I would say I’m a vocalist above it all. I believe that’s what sets me apart the most. I’ve been singing since such a young age and started writing after I had moved to Nashville. I was able to get into so many different rooms, making new friends and connections that would later lead me to various opportunities for performances and shows. Because of that, I’ve only fallen in love with this city more and more and it’s made me a better person in this industry- vocally, professionally and personally. It wasn’t an easy venture. This town is Music City after all, and trying to accomplish the same thing that so many others are trying for too can be challenging in establishing your voice and presence. But the biggest thing I have learned is that comparison is a waste of time. Everyone has their own journey and just as every single person is specifically unique, so is their journey to achieve their dreams! I’m most proud of the willingness within my young self to take such a step toward those goals of mine so many years ago. I still thank her everyday for taking a risk. And I’m very excited for my future self and my new album I’m working on currently. The writing process has been beyond words amazing and it’s the most excited I’ve ever been for my own music.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have a whole document about this on my notes app! I love this. I would take them to each neighborhood:

Monday would be nature day. Some iced coffee and a hike at Percy Priest! We’d end the day with some burgers and beer at ML Rose and Motown Monday at The 5 Spot!

Tuesday would be Opry day. Start the day off with shopping at the mall and tour/walk-around of the Grand Ole Opry. After that, we’d get our steps in visiting each atrium of the Opryland Hotel and some dinner in one of the cute restaurants.

Wednesday is cute neighborhood day. We’d absolutely start with breakfast at Froth Monkey and a walk around 12 South. After that, we’d move to shopping and ice cream in Hillsboro village and ending the day in Edgehill with some Barcelona Wine Bar for dinner and Old Glory for post-dinner cocktails.

Thursday would be spent having lunch and shopping in the Gulch. Possibly Urban Outfitters, the W Hotel bar and some lunch at Saint Anejo. We’d end the day with some dinner in East Nashville and a show at 5 Spot with drinks and hangs at Rosemary And Beauty Queen to follow.

Friday is Midtown/Division Street all day and night- Red Door is a must.

Saturday is Broadway day. We can do some tourist things during the daytime- a tour of The Ryman or Country Music Hall Of Fame and some lunch in the 5th and Broadway Plaza. Back to Broadway for a night of fun on the town. Dinner and espresso martinis at The Twelve Thirty Club, dancing at Ole Red, Nudies and Acme!

Sunday is brunch on Broadway. Mimo at the Four Seasons with some champagne and oysters and then walking around downtown to listen to some live music with a couple drinks!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family- Dad, Mom, Mary, Morgan and Kennedy. They’ve always been my biggest, number one fans and have supported me beyond comprehension every step of the way.
