We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Barry Stinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel Barry, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Authenticity is the most important factor behind the success of my brand. While you don’t need to tell the world everything about your life, cracking a window into what makes you tick and what brings you joy humanizes your brand. People can relate to what is REAL, and trying hard to be “business” all of the time is unrealistic. Showing bits and pieces of your personality and the parts of your life that you are willing to share is a great way to connect with the people in your sphere of influence.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I run a successful real estate business for well over a decade now, representing both buyers and sellers in Middle Tennessee. I was first licensed before the 2008 market crash, so I was able to see a drastic swing in the real estate market over a very short period of time. I also saw the market rebuild and watched homeowners and investors win over the long run. I have “broken comps” in several communities, selling the highest price per square foot at different points, and also have been proud to negotiate phenomenal deals for my buyers. Specializing in luxury homes, I know the importance of taking advantage of the top media marketing tools when showcasing a home. Creating an impressive online presence is vital, and using my experience, skill set, and amazing team of professionals to get a home ready to list is worth the effort on the front end. And whether I am representing a personal buyer or seller, or an investor, offering excellent representation with my client’s best interest in mind is what is most important to me. I am proud that my business has been built on the repeat business and client word-of-mouth referrals rather than outside advertising. Doing what is right for my client and treating them how I would like to be treated is the cornerstone of my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love nature more than music venues, although I do love a show every once in a while, so I would probably take them to Radnor Lake for a hike, The Perch for a delicious coffee and decadent European-esque crepes, and a browse at The Frist, our city’s art museum. For a dinner, I love Mockingbird in downtown Nashville, or Bourbon Steak atop the J.W. Marriot Hotel. Bluebird Cafe’ is my favorite spot to listen to some good music, and it has an amazing history. Just walking around downtown offers its own fun experience, and the many rooftop pools and bars add another layer to the experience! If someone is up for a day trip, Cummins Falls, Burgess Falls, Fall Creek Falls, Twin Falls at Rock Island State Park, and Rutledge Falls are my favorite places to explore.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am overwhelmingly thankful for my broker and brokerage, Charlie Peterson and Tyler York Real Estate Brokers, for creating an environment when my business can thrive, where I am personally built-up and encouraged, and where new and seasoned agents are offered support and mentorship and collaboration. My business would not be here today without our brokerage!
